The Auto Snob: November 2009
http://autosnob.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Ravings from an industry insider.kinda. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Deutschland, Part 8. One of the best aspects of my Germany trip was the opportunity to bear witness to the miraculous German public transportation system. Aside from flying in and out of Munich, and one stretch with a rental car, nearly my entire trip consisted of train travel. In the US, we- and our governments- make a lot of choices that benefit the individual at the expense of the common good. Emphasis in many areas is usually mo...

The Auto Snob: December 2009
http://autosnob.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Ravings from an industry insider.kinda. Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Deutschland, Part 11. After the Frankfurt auto show, I was eager to hop town, since the next day I'd be heading to the world-famous Nürburgring, the race track on which pretty much all modern performance cars are tuned, if only for the "cred". The most well-known portion of the track, the Nordschleife (Northern Loop), is also the part that's open to the public on most days. I'd tried to take this advice, by printing out maps of the track...

Ravings from an industry insider.kinda. Monday, November 29, 2010. Great car, but the ad? The dictionary on my Mac give the following definition:. A remark or statement, esp. one with a moral content, that has been used too often to be interesting or thoughtful. I present to you the video that might be next to that entry in a multimedia dictionary:. Links to this post. Thursday, November 4, 2010. From Bad-ass to Boring. Links to this post. The Auto Snob: April 2011
http://autosnob.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Ravings from an industry insider.kinda. Tuesday, April 12, 2011. It's been a while since I posted, but I just had to comment on this one. Lexus just revealed photos of its LF-Gh concept, which is surely a preview of the next generation GS mid-luxury sedan. When I looked at the profile view of the car, I was struck by a sense of familiarity. It only took a half second for me to realize that Lexus is really going for a BMW vibe on this one. Ironically, its a last-gen BMW vibe. Links to this post. Erik's Ph...

The Auto Snob: July 2009
http://autosnob.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Ravings from an industry insider.kinda. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Mustang (stickers) headed to NASCAR. The "sport" of stock car racing lost its luster for true car enthusiasts years ago. NASCAR's Car of Tomorrow put the final nail in the coffin of legitimacy, taking all variables out of the race except for the pit crew and driver. Fans of Ford, Chevy, Dodge and Toyota can root on their favorite make, but in reality their just cheering for a particular set of decals. I found the following quote from the p...

The Auto Snob: My Breaking Point
http://autosnob.blogspot.com/2007/09/my-breaking-point.html
Ravings from an industry insider.kinda. Saturday, September 29, 2007. I am a hypocrite. After months of complaining to the product planners at Volkswagen that a serious error had occurred, I validated their decision. Let me explain. I'd buy one right now! I proclaimed, but only if it had the right powertrain. Why wouldn't you just get a new GTI? Well, if you've been following my posts you know that I can't stand turbo lag. My VR6 just has all the grunt I need in every situation. And the sound? If Mitsubi...

Ravings from an industry insider.kinda. Tuesday, August 25, 2009. I do so love it when two news stories so ironically related appear near one another on the same day. The first example I showed was the Sirius/XM merger and the DaimlerChrysler split. Today I saw two posts on Autoblog, both addressing the fate of the luxury hybrid segment. The second post discussed the future of the Cadillac Converj concept. 8211; don't count the Converj out yet.". Links to this post. Wednesday, August 5, 2009. In my mind,...
