Mediocre Kayaking

Chronicles of a weekend warrior. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. South Branch of the Middle Fork of the Feather. The South Branch is hands down one of the best 1-day runs I have ever done. I would say it's a knotch up in quality to Tatlow Creek or maybe it's California's Tatlow Creek. Different character and geology then Tatlow, but super high quality steep creeking that leaves an ear to ear grin for the whole next week. Did an excellent write up on the run. Matt Thomas enjoying some air time. Darin doesn't get ...

Chronicles of a weekend warrior. Monday, March 20, 2006. Fear Canyon - Elaho River, BC. In September of 2005 a group of us decided to try and do the Clendenning River is BC, but we got shut down due to weather. After much deliberating and watching Ricky crash on the skateboard we decided to go do Fear Canyon on the Elaho River. Erik and Chris talking over plans. Photo by Matt Thomas. Chronicles of a weekend warrior. Tuesday, December 12, 2006. NF Quinault - Olympic Peninsula - WA. Here's a video from the trip courtesy of Erik Schertzl. Http:/ video.google.com/videoplay? Last August a group of us hiked into and did the NF of Quinault on the Olympic Peninsula. This run is hands down one of the prettiest runs ever. Definitely higher quality scenery then even Norrish Creek. Andrew has already posted a trip report at The Range Life. Photo by Matt Thomas. Photo by Ethan Smith.

So my blog will be deviating from the chronological nature and following a more random approach based on.well purely based on convenience. Nothing scientifitic just lazy. Actually just way more busy enjoying stuff outside instead fo being inside. Ricky Shurdle firing up Lava Falls. RT at Big Bro. Photo by Matt Thomas. Matt at Big Bro. Ricky at BZ falls. Chronicles of a weekend warrior. Thursday, March 16, 2006. Canyon Creek - Trib of SF Yuba - California. Canyon Creek is normally done as a two day run and you put in higher up, but the logistics are challenging and it's hard to know the water-level without first looking at the take-out. The other way to run it is to hike-in for about 30 minutes /- and run the last half, which is what we did. View upstream from the Take-out. Photo by Ben Naylor. Photo by Ben Naylor. http://plungepool.blogspot.com/2011/09/best-of-2011-so-far.html

The Journal of Mediocre Whitewater Paddling. Monday, September 26, 2011. Best of 2011, so far. It has been a long time since I have posted anything here. Let's face it, this is not really the premier media outlet anymore. But we are all about mediocrity, so, it makes sense to pretty up the front page with some fun pictures from the year so far. Amy Brown, styling Kahuna on Canyon Creek, WA. Hilary Neevel, Big Kahuna, Canyon Creek. Texas Dave looks on. Eric Mickelson, Horseshoe Falls, EFL, WA.

The Journal of Mediocre Whitewater Paddling. Thursday, August 2, 2007. Same story as below, thought I'd add these two shots from Devin of me on Rutherford Creek. Turns out there used to be a clean 20 foot waterfall somewhere on Rutherford Creek. We never saw it.anyone know when it disappeared? Me on ledges two and three in the big triple drop. We did manage to hop on Rutherford, Upper Cheakamus, Soo, and the Tuwasus/Lillooet. Chris taking a look at Rutherford Creek, medium low flows? All the important bits.

The Journal of Mediocre Whitewater Paddling. Sunday, January 20, 2008. New Zealand 2003: The Arahura. Update.video clip at the bottom.* *. Continuing on with my procrastinatory efforts to remember beautiful lines while I tug repetitively on the Therabands tied to random objects around my house. The crown jewel.the Arahura River. The run starts with a heli trip up the three main canyons, to a small gravel bar immediately above some class IV drops. Owen Callahan, about two rapids into the Arahura. The entr...

158 miles 29,000 vertical feet 39 days. The ultimate California kayaking expedition. And I crossed the proverbial finish line at Garnet Dyke Campground Friday evening capping off our nearly 6 week California Epic with the Middle Kings. Along with other West Coast Jackson Kayak expedition kayakers Devin Knight. Ryan Knight, Chris Korbulic. All told the trip involved (per person):. 1 28 days of kayaking, 8 days shuttling vehicles, and 3 days of rest and feeding. To see Darin's impressive body of work.

The Journal of Mediocre Whitewater Paddling. Sunday, January 6, 2008. New Zealand 2003: North Island. I recently had breakfast with a friend who recently landed a job doing geology in New Zealand. After suppressing my extreme jealousy, I decided to take action. Seeing as how I'm currently laid up with a slowly recovering right shoulder. This is the first installment of my nostalgic/inspirational (for me) journey (yes, I did once have a functioning right arm.). I drove cross country to meet up with Zach i...

http://plungepool.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

The Journal of Mediocre Whitewater Paddling. Tuesday, November 6, 2007. Due to a shoulder dislocation on beloved Clearwater Creek. I will not be writing about first hand, paddle to water, boating experiences for a while. Boaters are good people. Solid partners are worth their weight in gold. Maybe someday I'll be one again. I'll update the blog with my physical therapy progress. I guess I'm not as bad off as this guy. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). NZ Arahura 2003 w/ video. NZ South Island 2003.

Mediocre Ideas - Home

I come up with a lot of mediocre ideas. I'll share the best/worst ones here. N.B. one of them was buying this site for five years! If like me you enjoy coming up with ideas but never quite get round to doing anything with them, then this website is for you. Alternatively if you are one of those weird types, the completer finisher, the entrepreneur then perhaps you'd like to turn one of these mediocre ideas into a good one. Proudly powered by Weebly.
