Melbourne Dreaming: Farewell, dreamers!
http://melbournedreaming.blogspot.com/2012/09/farewell-friends.html
Tuesday, September 04, 2012. It's true - Melbourne Dreaming has come to a natural conclusion after its inception way back in March '06. It sounds boring; because it is - I needed. More boring in my life. My life is less glamorous now, but more satisfying and settled. And of course, I'm focusing on working for myself. You can still keep up with my professional profiles on facebook. Plus I'll continue to act as social media coordinator for The Squeaky Wheel. So check out their feeds for bike-related posts.
Melbourne Dreaming: December 2011
http://melbournedreaming.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 22, 2011. Or Lagab Nu Achaar. Wedding pickle, apparently). Shout out to the lovely Cyren for the idea and the recipe, plus the use of her nice big kitchen during the (rather messy) preparations. 300g dried apricots, thinly sliced. 250g jaggery (palm sugar). 100g garlic (I press this in the garlic press). 15 dried red chillies. 2 tbspns garam masala. Soak the dates, raisins and apricots overnight in 1 cup of the sugar and as much vinegar as you need to cover. Wednesday, December 21, 2011.

Melbourne Dreaming: January 2012
http://melbournedreaming.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 23, 2012. More thoughts on freelancing. It's been fairly quiet over the Christmas period, workwise. I've spent lots of time in the flat, browsing. I've also experienced my very first dead-beat client recently. Woowee! I am thanking my lucky stars that it's only a small sum that they owe me for (if it was a more significant amount, I would be hiring a hitman). I met with these people a few months ago. They had found me via Gumtree. For some reason I agree to a third meeting where the clien...
Melbourne Dreaming: Tap, tap... is this thing on?
http://melbournedreaming.blogspot.com/2015/03/tap-tap-is-this-thing-on.html
Saturday, March 14, 2015. Tap, tap. is this thing on? It's been a heck of a long time between blog posts. I must admit, I rarely do something in my own time unless I want. Do that thing (lucky me, eh? And I haven't felt the urge to blog for a really long time. I'm not sure why - I'm busy with other stuff? The medication I'm on has affected my writing ability/confidence? I have other outlets for my creativity now? Goodness knows, but here we are. 1 Moving to the burbs. The bad: it's a long way from family...

Alex Meets World: A train journey to forget and a christmas to remember
http://alexmeetstheworld.blogspot.com/2013/01/a-train-journey-to-forget-and-christmas.html
Sunday, 27 January 2013. A train journey to forget and a christmas to remember. This year we decided to have Christmas as a proper holiday for everyone, without any of the family needing to cook and more importantly clean up a big Christmas meal. Grandpa picked Coffs Harbour as it was vaguely between the various family members (on mum's side anyway). You might think but - you'd be wrong. In the end we had to escape the evil glares of our fellow passengers by traveling. But we survived and arrived at a lo...
Sweet Nothings: Wedding table info - Las Vegas hotel profiles

Yet another blog in a sea of millions. The url is actually quite rude. Sorry about that. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Wedding table info - Las Vegas hotel profiles. If you were lucky enough to be at my recent wedding, here is the stuff I wrote about each of the seven casinos that we used as tables during the evening meal. If you weren't there, you probably won't have a clue what's going on, but you're welcome to have a read anyway. December 18, 1993. 15,930 sq m. Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club –. Not a trib...

Yet another blog in a sea of millions. The url is actually quite rude. Sorry about that. Wednesday, May 28, 2014. In this first post-Fergie season, it wasn’t terribly surprising that Manchester United. The poor fellow was doomed from the start. 8217;s title win wasn’t as easy as it should have been. For a few weeks before Christmas everything clicked – their strikers were on fire and they looked like runaway league winners. Then Sergio Aguero got injured (again), Alvaro Negredo lost t...Embarked upon the...

the time always comes: Bill Henson. My take.
http://thetimealwayscomes.blogspot.com/2008/05/bill-henson-my-take.html
The time always comes. I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.". Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Bill Henson. My take. I am hopeless at getting my opinion out there while issues are still topical, partly because I want to make sure I can stand behind what I've written, and partly because I'm a waffling old bore. So my take on this issue has to be presented in point form, though even my 'points' can be rather long:. I suspect most Hun readers also believe in meting ...

The time always comes. I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.". Thursday, April 17, 2008. As both Nick Hornby and my good friend MSKP know well, a list will solve anything - be it an argument, writers' block or the blues. So without further fanfare. Five songs I love:. Hearts and Bones - Paul Simon. Favourite line: 'one and one half wandering Jews, free to travel wherever they choose'. Boulder - Ned Collette. Favourite line: the moog solo. I love this song ...

Yet another blog in a sea of millions. The url is actually quite rude. Sorry about that. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Don’t start. Yes,. Bangkok has a rude name and lots of unsavoury associations - ping pong shows, happy finishes, etc etc. But take your minds out of the gutter now, because as a sophisticated traveller I am above such lowbrow things. Pah - you people sicken me. Meanwhile, as is my wont, I played spot-the-Western-influences with the buildings and billboards, the majority of which seemed to fea...
Sweet Nothings: Riding in circles?
http://sweetsweetfa.blogspot.com/2015/07/riding-in-circles.html
Yet another blog in a sea of millions. The url is actually quite rude. Sorry about that. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Not only that, but Froome’s Team Sky colleagues Richie Porte and Geraint Thomas also produced stunning rides, beating established team leaders in the process who didn’t have anybody else to work for. Accepted wisdom in cycling says that whole teams can’t be this dominant over the rest of the field without chemical assistance. My favourite is this race. The analysis poured forth nonetheless&#...

Yet another blog in a sea of millions. The url is actually quite rude. Sorry about that. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Because we'd both been to New York before (many times for my wife, just the once for me - see here. We were lulled into a mistaken feeling of being fully prepared for it. A typically hair-raising cab ride full of last-second lane changes and blaring horns was enough to dispel that notion. And judge for yourself. On that Saturday, we still managed to visit the shiny new Freedom Tower and ...

Yet another blog in a sea of millions. The url is actually quite rude. Sorry about that. Thursday, January 23, 2014. Has been nominated for ten Oscars and Baftas, as well as seven Golden Globes (three wins), two Screen Actors Guild awards (winning best ensemble) and a host of others. It’s still not entirely clear why. Maybe because of its look? Maybe it’s down to the directing? As noted, Russell must have had fun making Hustle. 8211; perhaps a bit too much, as the overall mood is one of indulgence. W...
