AN EXERCISE IN TRIMMING. It has been a very busy time in the ikebana world lately. Last weekend we had two days of workshops with Mr Yoshiro Umemura. From Sydney. A month ago I posted a photo of hand-. Crocheted remembrance poppies. Today is the 100th anniversary of an unsuccessful WW I military campaign at Gallipoli, in modern day Turkey. INTENSE and SUBTLE COLOUR. A couple of weeks ago I was in Sydney and was delighted to see a large number of Central/South American Jacaranda. Trees in full bloom. A couple of weeks ago I posted a photo of a heron wading in the Creek at Torquay. This one, however, I photographed in the Yarra River in the heart of Melbourne. Black Swans are a more common sight and I was a little surprised to see it there. By chance the photo seemed to capture the gracefulness of the bird's heavy, slow-flapping wings.
