Archive for April, 2011. Tags: lamb of god. Passover begins tomorrow night so I thought it would be interesting to see how lambs are written about in the Bible. Sheep are often mentioned in the records of the ancient Near East. They were valued for a great many things such as being a source of milk, meat, and wool for clothing. Lambs were particularly valuable for their future what they would produce. In addition sheep were used to tread grain into the soil and as sacrificial animals. The pinnacle of New...

Messianic Jewish Movement – end time revival? not today! | Yeshua Matters

Messianic Jewish Movement – end time revival? Personally I do not see the Messianic Jewish Movement as an end time revival. How could I say such a thing? A question. how would you see the growing Torah keeping Gentiles as being a catalyst through making the Jew jealous? Is that related to what Rav Shaul spoke of when he desired to somehow drive to jealousy his brothers? May 13, 2013 at 10:10 pm.

Messianic Jewish Imagination 3 | Yeshua Matters

Messianic Jewish Imagination 3. A Jewish community in which people, young and old, who identify with our values experience dynamic relationship, intellectual stimulation, vitality, acceptance, spiritual growth and delight centered in Messiah Yeshua. This is not a statement that we as a congregation have adopted but it is what I see as the place we want to be continually moving toward. Yeshua shared this vision when he said “Behold the kingdom of heaven is at hand! 8221; My hope is that by living accordin...

Archive for February, 2014. Some thoughts on Heschel and the Uniqueness of God. I have been reading Shai Held’s book. Abraham Joshua Heschel: the Call Of Transcendence. I have always appreciated Heschel’s desire to inculcate a God centered approach to life and faith. I especially appreciate his writings about the “pathos of God.” (see Heschel’s. God in Search of Man. Heschel’s description and understanding of the pathos of God. Also helpful to us in our understanding of the uniqueness of God is Heschel&#...

Archive for February, 2013. Reading the Bible from left to right. When Gabriel tells Miriam about Yeshua, he called him the one who will reign over the house of Jacob forever (Luke 1:33). When an Angel of the Lord tell Joseph about Yeshua, he calls him the one who will save his people from their sins (Matt. 1:21). Are these two different mutually exclusive callings? Archive for December, 2012. Newtown and Psalm 113. We are all shocked and saddened by the horrible tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14th. Like most religious professionals, I had to quickly change my sermon for December 15th in order to address the situation from a spiritual perspective. I tried to bring both comfort as well as a challenge to our people. I used Psalm 113 as my text for the day. 1 Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD,. Praise the name of the LORD. As Messiah follower...

Passover Reflections – Who Am I? | Yeshua Matters

Passover Reflections – Who Am I? The first words that Moses spoke to God were “Who am I”? Even though those great family Passover Seders of my youth exist only in my memory I can still say that when we have our Passover Seder today as a family and as a messianic community, the combination of family, tradition, and a great meal still give me a great sense of belonging, identity and security. I know who I am. Responses to “Passover Reflections – Who Am I? Feed for this Entry. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
