Random Thoughts: March 2009

http://minnesoablue.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

My thoughts about family and the complex world we live in. Monday, March 9, 2009. Wishing for a sister. I love my brothers dearly but a sister would have been so wonderful. Being the only girl I always had my own room and my brothers had to share a room and I used to listen to them at night pillow fighting, laughing and just generally having a good time and I remember being so jealous. My thoughts about family and the complex world we live in. Thursday, February 26, 2009. It is depressing to visit her, especially seeing all the other folks around her who are also in her condition only sometimes worse. Mum worked as nurse for many years and took care of folks like the ones she is with now and this has made her situation more difficult because she in her clearer moments understands what has happened. Random Thoughts: Falling behind

http://minnesoablue.blogspot.com/2009/05/ever-think-you-may-be-falling-behind.html

My thoughts about family and the complex world we live in. Monday, May 4, 2009. Ever think you may be falling behind when it comes to modern technology? Hi Minnesota glad to hear from you! I am technologically challenged. I hate them damn things. Whenever one of my sons puts one in my hands I panic. I can never get use to getting a phone call and talking to someone I assume is home and find out they are at my front door. I will never get one. May 4, 2009 at 4:41 PM. May 4, 2009 at 6:04 PM. Bit is not on.

Random Thoughts: January 2010

http://minnesoablue.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

My thoughts about family and the complex world we live in. Friday, January 29, 2010. It has been just three years since I have retired and I can truthfully say I have not missed working at all. I have never looked back with regret or thought I made a mistake in doing so. I attend a monthly breakfast with other retired nurses and they all say they do not miss nursing either. I believe that says a lot about the profession. We were able to visit my son this year, hadn't seen him or our granddaughter for alm...

Random Thoughts: September 2009

http://minnesoablue.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

My thoughts about family and the complex world we live in. Saturday, September 26, 2009. Throughout my career I have always tended to gravitate towards stressful areas of nursing. After my retirement I began looking for a volunteer position that would be the least stressful yet would give satisfaction and a sense of helping others. Being a volunteer I never am told what brought these children to the center. My role is to feed bathe clothe rock and give love lots of love. My reward is seeing smile...The n...

Hard To Want: December 2008

http://hardtowant.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Monday, December 15, 2008. Ryan was there beside her when it happened. She was perfectly healthy. Ryan had to sell his home and move in with his parents. He's left alone to raise two girls, ages 6 months and 3 years. It's hard enough with two parents. I called him and offered my condolences, but what can one really offer in that situation except empty words? Awful, just tragic. I thank my lucky stars and twenty other clichés. Hard To Want: September 2008

http://hardtowant.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Saturday, September 13, 2008. If you saw a recent interview of Sarah Palin by ABC News anchor Charles Gibson, then you have been sold a bill of goods. Follow this. This is the kind of thing that puts someone in office, opponents getting caught doctoring interviews, like the Dan Rather business of falsifying a letter purported to have been written decades ago on a typewriter when it clearly originated from a word processor. Update: More ABC partisanship.

Hard To Want: June 2009

http://hardtowant.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Sunday, June 28, 2009. Right now I am in Houston visiting family. It's just Jackson and me right now; mom and Emmett stayed behind to make the trip easier. It's heart-warming what a little separation can do for a family. Jackson and Emmett talk to each other every day on the cell, and we exchange "I miss you" messages back and forth, with the occasional picture attachment. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hard To Want: April 2009

http://hardtowant.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Tell Me About The Good Old Days. When I signed over the title to the mechanic, I took what I knew was going to be my last look at the bike. He patted me on the shoulder because he just knew. So I have to respect how I spend every cent of the money I sold her for. The Amazing Slow Downer. The only question left was which song to start with. I've decided on the Judds song called. Hard To Want: October 2008

http://hardtowant.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Wednesday, October 29, 2008. I won't say what it was about, but my wife was as mad at me as she has ever been for the last couple days.  It was to the point that I actually thought she might leave me. It definitely wasn't about politics, so get that off your mind! Life is back to normal again, and I'm the luckiest guy I know. Saturday, October 25, 2008. And guess what- his humility was well-justified. I linked VDH to a friend of mine once, and after i...

That wanders off the reservation, away from responsibility and sensibility and into the world of no consequence. It was quite liberating. Thank goodness the guys couldn't stay out longer. After three beers I was in the mood to rock and roll, and when that happens I could wake up anywhere from somebody's couch to a back alley dumpster. All my wor...

Hard To Want: April 2008

http://hardtowant.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Wednesday, April 09, 2008. I've been thinking a lot lately about what life is all about. It's kind of corny, but for me it has really boiled down to what Val Kilmer said at the end of. And I'm paraphrasing a little: "There is no point to life, Wyatt, there is only life. So go out and live it.". When we were kids, didn't we always think there was some goal to achieve, like our life was a story that just had to have a happy ending? How did you know?

Hard To Want: The Great Gatsby

http://hardtowant.blogspot.com/2009/01/great-gatsby.html

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Monday, January 26, 2009. I'm currently reading F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. I know this is the pop-culture equivalent of discovering that Darth Vader is Luke's father, but Fitzgerald is an astounding writer. Normally I don't hear the genius in the work of others. I'm told by my peers that such and such is brilliant, but I don't see. Or illuminates a doorway. Take this for example: For a moment the last sunshine fell with romantic affection...

My life. I can't complain, but some times I still do. Tuesday, March 17, 2009. I don't know if I have the courage to tell you about every fax pas I've committed in my lifetime,. But I have to tell you what happened to me yesterday. To the end (especially the exploding Pinto scene). No reply. I was thinking it was after five and she had gone home.
