Serving Jesus on Route 66: July 2009
http://route66poffs.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 31, 2009. While the owners of the farm are gone on a mission trip to Africa for a couple of weeks, we were "ordered" to take home all of the ripe vegetables from the garden. Consequently, we ended up with a few tomatoes. I decided to give homemade spaghetti sauce a try. The recipe I found said to have 20 pounds of tomatoes. But boy was it good. We put it on our homemade pizzas. We also used some tomatoes and fresh banana and bell peppers to make some homemade salsa. Yummy! And of course, the...

Sloppy Kisses: June 2010
http://rachelsimsblog.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Sticky fingers, runny noses, dirty diapers and sloppy kisses: being a mom is a dirty job. It's not always easy and doesn't pay big bucks but it is definitely the most rewarding job out there. Here are some little glimpses of my life as a mom. Skinny jeans here I come! Posted by Rachel Sims. My baby is 6 months old! Losing weight after pregnancy has been so tough for me. Since I had Gavin, I've lost the weight faster than I have with any of my 3 other kids. I've lost 41 pounds! I picked a special event th...

Serving Jesus on Route 66: December 2009

Thursday, December 31, 2009. A Christmas Full of Blessings and Generosity. What a wonderful time we had celebrating our Lord's birth this year with dearly-missed friends and family in Minnesota! It was so much of a blessing and encouragement to our hearts and spirits. (The picture above is Vince's special creation. It's tradition for us to bring a birthday cake and sing "Happy Birthday Jesus" at my mom's annual Christmas party.). And I think it's my stepmom. In the background but am not sure:). Friends t...

Serving Jesus on Route 66: February 2010

Thursday, February 18, 2010. Celebrating the Third Trimester. To celebrate the first day of the third trimester of this pregnancy #5, I thought I'd share some belly pictures, especially since we can't see so many of you in person. The kids think it's neat (although Vince would probably prefer the word "weird"-you know how teenage boys are about that kind of stuff) that at one time they were each in the same womb where baby Malachi now is. Pete and I, of course, think it's absolutely AWESOME! After that, ...

Serving Jesus on Route 66: June 2010
http://route66poffs.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 11, 2010. Picture was taken after a bath.). We've gone a little more green in our home. This time, it's with the baby! Ever had a baby/toddler wet the bed? Completely soaked, right? Sheets, blankets, everything going into the wash! How does that much moisture fit into a tiny, thin disposable diaper without pouring out the sides? You guessed it: those nasty, dangerous chemicals, including dioxin. Forget that! Then we just put the diaper on and velcro like a disposable. Because the covers ...

Serving Jesus on Route 66: September 2009

Thursday, September 17, 2009. Fruits and Veggies- Oh the Possibilities! Wow- could a person ever fully come to know all of the possibilities that fruits and veggies offer? Do you ever have one of those weeks where suddenly no one eats the bananas? We had a week like that recently and as I watched that bunch of bananas begin to decay, I rushed through my virtual memory of recipe ideas to make sure they didn't go to waste. Here's the result:. I made one of the muffin recipes in the book with butternut squa...

Serving Jesus on Route 66: May 2009

Thursday, May 7, 2009. A World of Learning Opportunities. Since I haven't posted anything about what we've been up to for a while, I thought I'd show y'all a little bit of it. One of the all-time favorite things homeschooling does is allows us to learn in the most natural, inspiring, and interesting ways. We learn about reptiles by finding turtles and getting books all about them from the library. . . This time it's a three-toed box turtle similar to what we had last year.). Saturday, May 2, 2009. This picture cracks me up because Ellie gets so mad at us if Emma needs help or is crying. She gets a really whiny MOMMEEEE, EMMAAAAAA. This is a picture of Emma's last hurrah in the bouncy chair without being strapped in. Ellie ran over to save her. Links to this post. Saturday, September 26, 2009. Enter internet resear...

Serving Jesus on Route 66: Happy Resurrection Day--Easter 2010
http://route66poffs.blogspot.com/2010/04/happy-resurrection-day-easter-2010.html
Sunday, April 4, 2010. Happy Resurrection Day- Easter 2010. What a beautiful day this Easter Sunday was! There's just something about needing good weather for Easter, and not just for the egg hunt! So after Pete took the kids to the Easter service at church and I did my own bedrest "service" from home, Pete and Vince hid eggs around the yard. Faith, Dylan, and Gabie had a blast finding them, although Vince hid Dylan's eggs almost too good! Brothers, aren't they great? Hope your Easter was just as blessed!
