Rancho Redux: June 2010
http://ranchoredux.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
A journal of remodeling our midcentury modern home (one of the few in Santa Fe). Sunday, June 13, 2010. The Deck and Beyond. We had a slat bench here before that we had bought at a garage sale, but it was too short for the space. Love the new one. We also bought an Adrian Pearsall/ Craft Associates coffee table on ebay. Of course, the glass arrived in a million pieces. But after a lot of haggling with UPS, I got paid for a new one. And just poured foundation piers today. The new one will be a lot bigger,...

Rancho Redux: December 2009
http://ranchoredux.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
A journal of remodeling our midcentury modern home (one of the few in Santa Fe). Monday, December 21, 2009. A Little Atomic Splendor for the Holidays. We did a little bit of decorating for the holidays. First, John hung icicle lights all along the front of the house just as the previous owner, June, had done. She left us all her lights and I think they look terrific. And finally, here's an old plant stand I got at a thrift store years ago. We filled it with icicle lights and set it in our front entry.

Rancho Redux: Copy Cats
http://ranchoredux.blogspot.com/2013/12/copy-cats.html
A journal of remodeling our midcentury modern home (one of the few in Santa Fe). Tuesday, December 3, 2013. We drove around one afternoon looking at people's yards and mailboxes. And we found another one! This time I had the picture of the two-toned one on my phone and I was prepared to show them what we wanted to do with their mailbox. We walked up the sidewalk, knocked on the door, introduced ourselves, and said we had a crazy request. Before we got any farther, the woman said, "I know you! And now it'...

Rancho Redux: A Modern Weekend in LA
http://ranchoredux.blogspot.com/2012/06/modern-weekend-in-la.html
A journal of remodeling our midcentury modern home (one of the few in Santa Fe). Tuesday, June 5, 2012. A Modern Weekend in LA. We went to LA last weekend, catching the California Modernism show at LACMA before it ended. That was tremendous fun - they had everything from iconic furniture to textiles to an Avanti to a reproduction of Charles and Ray Eames' living room (with the actual furnishings). Or check out this Airstream! And you could peek out back at the latest installation. But for the weekend, we...

Rancho Redux: August 2011
http://ranchoredux.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
A journal of remodeling our midcentury modern home (one of the few in Santa Fe). Tuesday, August 30, 2011. It took 4 wheelbarrowfuls of dirt to fill it in. You could see where the slab had sagged over this hole, but I had never noticed it before. Good thing we found it. John used a lot of floor leveler to fix it. Well, this is the kind of stuff you discover when you remodel an old house! So - here's a "pre" picture of my office wall from the hallway door-. And here's how it looks now-. And I just saw an ...
