Our first foray into corporate design had us working with the people who bring you sugar (well… honey, at least), spice, and all things flavourful. While McCormick has developed into a cutting edge flavour company, the lobby of their London, Canada facility did not represent their current progressive nature. To gain the desired sense of openness and lightness, the glazing was extended up to the height of the interior ceiling. Accompanied by the full-height, frameless glazing, the desired effect was achieved. A simple ceramic tile serves as cladding and planters were added to bring much-needed greenery and warmth to the raw streetscape. SIGNAGE DESIGN: By Others.

Polish Nail Bar is a sleek, welcome addition to London’s gritty Dundas street scene. With an interior focus strictly on schematic design in pursuit of a functional layout, the bulk of our creativity was unleashed on the building’s facade. A crisp, modern face was envisioned, in welcome contrast to the historical and textural brickwork existing on the upper levels.

While we’re still out on the chicken and egg debate, we are strong advocates for the development of function before form. Granted, design themes or even specific aesthetic elements often surface during the initial Ideation Meeting for a given project but we do focus on molding the functionality of a space to the needs of our client before developing its form.

After obtaining somewhat reluctant agreement, a second concept was developed and ultimately pitted against the first in a public poll. Both concepts are depicted below, but after more than 140 votes, it was Concept 2 that came out on top and will ultimately be constructed.
