A Bad Idea Turned Funny: December 2009
http://troutmasque.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
A Bad Idea Turned Funny. A random aggregation of pop culture related stuff, mostly centered around music with occasional movie and TV digressions. Thursday, December 31, 2009. So, without further ado. THE TOP 5 ALBUMS OF THE 00'S. Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy (Jagjaguwar, 2005). The Wrens - The Meadowlands (Absolutely Kosher, 2003). Teenage angst lost its appeal to me for the most part once I stopped being a teenager, but mid-30s angst? The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2 (K, 2001). Choirs of the Eye.

Living Between Wednesdays: September 2008
http://livingbetweenwednesdays.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Lois Lane: Girl Chef. If there is one thing I love as much as comic books, it's food. Logically, I then also love this classic story from Lois Lane #1. It begins when Lois overhears some sound advice on how to get a man to propose to you. Naturally, this interests her due to her unhealthy obsession with Superman. Check out the Daily Planet's love advice columnist:. You know that dude is getting it regular. Perry White is so drunk in that panel. Superman works hard. So har...

Wednesday, December 31, 2008. The Best of 2008. 2008 was a big year for me. Matt and I got married, we both finished school, we both got jobs, and we each released a new album. I also got to go to my first comic book convention, HeroesCon in Charlotte. A pretty exciting year overall. It was an exciting year for comic books too! And have a happy new year! I'll see you in 2009 (a lot more frequently now that school is over forever! 6 The Incredible Herc. 7 Top Ten Season Two. 8 The Dark Knight/Iron Man.

Living Between Wednesdays: My Spoiler-Free Mini-Review of Watchmen
http://livingbetweenwednesdays.blogspot.com/2009/03/my-spoiler-free-mini-review-of-watchmen.html
Wednesday, March 04, 2009. My Spoiler-Free Mini-Review of Watchmen. Do we need a review of Watchmen. To be spoiler-free, actually? I just got back from an advance screening, and I just wanted to share some quick thoughts. My only real problem with the movie is that it was too gory and that the major sex scene was just too.porny? Ohand the soundtrack is BATSHIT INSANE. But it kind of charmed me. Movie was met and adequately conquered. And some of the scenes were downright awesome to see on screen! Which i...

Evil Feminist Witch: November 2008

I'll get you yet.and your patriarchy, too. Monday, November 17, 2008. Way to Ruin a Good Thing. So, this commercial pissed me off especially because I the first whiskey I started drinking was Wisers. Too bad I ain't male. Luckily, I've gotten over Wisers, and moved onto things much better. I'm just annoyed at the sexism inherent in umpteen alcohol advertisements. GAWD, if I decided to boycott all alcohol based on sexist ads, I'd probably be stuck with no choice but making moonshine. The poem that the pop...

I'll get you yet.and your patriarchy, too. Tuesday, April 14, 2009. When A Man is the Victim. When A Man is the Victim. I never liked that movie 40 Nights (or whatever it was called) with Josh Hartnett because it pretty much played off a rape scene between his character and his ex-girlfriend as something that was supposed to be funny, as well as something that damaged his current relationship with Shannon Sossoman's character not because he was raped by his ex. I'll get you yet.and your patriarchy, too. Thursday, January 7, 2010. Letter from the Toronto Women's Bookstore. I'm re-posting here a letter for help from the Toronto Women's Bookstore that they released over the holidays. Thought I'd put it up here any case anyone still comes across this blog and can offer a helping hand to a struggling but important independent bookstore in Toronto. See the TWB's plea below:. Dear TWB community,. The Toronto Women's Bookstore is in crisis and we need your help! Toward...
