This page will focus on news/projects, while that page will serve as a less formal studio diary. See you over there, maybe!

Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. August 8, 2016. August 8, 2016. Week 2 of Trying To Do Art Everyday In August (needs a catchier name, huh? But the trick is finding a way that works for me to get better with this stuff. Bullet journal tracking stuff. I have this frame of leaves that I’ve been poking away at for over a year, practicing satin stitch and having really no idea what to put in the middle. Yesterday’s drawing finally solves that problem. I’d been percolating...Enter your comment here.

no hard feelings – forestine

Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. August 1, 2016. I’m trying to be a person who finishes things, instead of starting a zillion new projects at once. The current “thing” is this piece of lace:. Fee fees (this thing never ends) #crochet. A post shared by Lindsay Joy (@forestine) on. Jul 28, 2016 at 3:24pm PDT. Of unraveling going on, too. A post shared by Lindsay Joy (@forestine) on. Jul 11, 2016 at 3:44pm PDT. The ebb and flow of art practice sometimes feels frustrating, but it can’t always be full bore. Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. September 2, 2016. September 2, 2016. Okay, so I’ve been avoiding the world and working on this tweed jacket. Sewing often feels like a mix between art and not-art. I think the process of doing it does help my thought process, plus I often get to use sewing supplies inherited from my grandma or other old ladies in my life. Starting to look jackety. Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. August 24, 2016. Well, missed an update. I’m always tempted to give up after missing one thing, you know? I’ve had a rough few weeks for whatever reason. Lace is on hold until next payday because I’m going to run out of thread. Planning error. Hopefully I can get the same dye lot. I’ve been embroidering slowly but steadily, and now have outlines done of all the leaves of the border, ready to satin stitch. Why does cutting take me so long? The habit trackers hel...

Studio diary – art, craft, general ranting. Artist, blog-haver, bike rider. February 1, 2017. Otherwise known in the craft world as “Unfinished Objects”. After a week and a half with the flu, I really wanted to make something today. I bought and printed two PDF sewing patterns, but then when I started going through my fabric (stored in an inherited hope chest I refer to as the “hopeless chest”), I found so many unfinished garments. Why is it so hard to spend like maybe 5% more time to finish something?
