Margarita in Arizona

A seven year old experiences a different life in the U.S. Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Cindy is a spunky 17 year-old who I met almost nine years ago when she arrived at NPH Honduras with her older sister Karla. After their mother passed away, the siblings were split up and sent to live with different relatives. They were reunited by our NPH social worker and brought to the Ranch. Over the years, every time I have left the Ranch and hugged Cindy good-bye, I would always tell her I loved her. She could ...

Margarita in Arizona: May 2007

http://www.monicainhonduras.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

A seven year old experiences a different life in the U.S. Monday, May 07, 2007. In anticipation of Mother's Day. How does a mother walk out of the hospital without the child she just birthed? How long did she wait till she skipped out? Did she hold her? How long was it before someone else came to the hospital to get Margarita? How can you give 4 children away or see them but not acknowledge that they exist? How destroyed are they for the rest of their lives? I have two other friends in. She continues to ...

Margarita in Arizona: August 2007

http://www.monicainhonduras.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

A seven year old experiences a different life in the U.S. Sunday, August 05, 2007. Just one day in Teguz…. Poor Margarita, I drag her into the laboratory at the clinic in Teguz, without any breakfast because she supposedly had to have lab tests for the visa medical examination – but once we got there they said “No, only for children under 12,” but of course they didn’t tell me that when I called. We then go to the Honduran Person Registry. Here we try and enter 3 doors and the guard tells me each tim...

Margarita in Arizona: August 2006

http://www.monicainhonduras.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

A seven year old experiences a different life in the U.S. Friday, August 18, 2006. What keeps me busy is work, motherhood, legal paperwork and meetings and the children here at the Ranch. Every week we have a different group of “chicas” come over for a few hours. We make popcorn, cake and dinner. Well, I made them Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and the chicas hardly took a bite. They looked at it like it was grubs! I thought to myself what kids don’t like mac and cheese? Also whenever anyone needs photos of a...

Margarita in Arizona: March 2007

http://www.monicainhonduras.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

A seven year old experiences a different life in the U.S. Sunday, March 18, 2007. About one month ago, my friend Chris (in photo, Margarita took this) and I met with a lawyer named Marta, who Shannon, another friend, quickly dubbed Power Lawyer. Where Margarita was born, to obtain a new birth certificate with me as the mother. I then take that to immigration to get Margarita a Honduran passport. I will be in. So hope to see you then. Friday, March 02, 2007. I was wrong. In. I got to see Misael again....

What i was thankful for yesterday, celebrating thanksgiving in honduras, for the 4th (? Thanks.for the beautifully chilly night, making for a comfortable walk down to the front gate, en route for Tegucigalpa. Thanks.to the bus driver that nearly threw me on my face (repeatedly) as i was getting on (there was a woman sitting right in the middle of the aisle on a huge bucket, not concerned about the fact that it made it nearly impossible for anybody to get by her). http://anniekautza.blogspot.com/2011/04/they-say-americans-love-heidelberg.html

They say Americans love Heidelberg. I was told that three times in one day shortly after arriving in Heidelberg. And after spending two weeks there, I can see why they say it. Not specifically about Americans, but for all people. It's a quaint little town, and of course a place with lots of history (maybe that's why Americans like it? Our history just isn't quite that old). And having said that, it's time to hit the patio for some vitamin D, vino and a book on qualitative research. What a combination.

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.". Anyways - to the point. Difficult decisions have come upon me over these past couple of days, and we all know how amazing I am at making decisions. Well, I finally just came up with a solution to this little dilemma, set the wheels in motion, then strolled into the kitchen to make lunch. As I threw together the fixings for a salad, I noticed the end of the tomato I had pulled from the fridge. April 21, 2011 at 11:54 PM. Me and my boys.

Check out these rainbow throwing chimneys i captured out my kitchen window yesterday. http://anniekautza.blogspot.com/2011/05/what-says-springtime-better-than-juicy.html

What says spring better than a juicy fruit? I seem to be on a kick of blogging about sphere-shaped fruits. well this time it's not so much about the fruit itself, but the life-altering tool i have used for years to access the sweetness that awaits inside this fruit. my mother is a Pampered Chef consultant. And loves supplying her children with her favorite kitchen gadgets. including this one. I have always loved to eat oranges, but before this " Citrus Peeler. Do i sound like i'm on a commercial? It feels as though it's been an eternity since I've been 'round these parts, and as usual I'm being pestered to update. So here we go. As per the previous post, you may know my sister visited me in Berlin for my last week in Germany. Instead of re-posting everything, I will just direct you to her blog. For stories and photos. She captured everything much better than I could even attempt to. I guess that about sums it up for now. Happy 4th of July weekend! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
