http://noellemace.blogspot.com/2015/07/hurrah-for-cherry-season.html
Thursday, 30 July 2015. Hurrah for the Cherry Season. I love cherries.and was invited to by my friend Roz for the afternoon on Tuesday to pick cherries. I am a climber, have always been. I brought these bright shiny, ripe, cooking cherries home. After a full morning stoning, to give 2.75Kg fruit, and 2 Kg sugar, and three lemons, and an afternoon pot stirring. 31 July 2015 at 10:09. 1 August 2015 at 19:15. 1 August 2015 at 19:13. Stasher: October 2014

Wednesday, 29 October 2014. Links to this post. Tuesday, 28 October 2014. Since my last birthday, I have gradually been claiming my six special treats. This was my fourth one, and I was promised a dessert item for the weekend. Even though I love baking, its a treat for someone else to make something, as the taste and smell is so more intense if you have not been immersed in it during the cooking stage. The main course cleared, this is what was brought in. MC asked for the recipe. Links to this post.

Monday, 31 August 2015. In a Vase on Monday - Not putting the Dormouse into the teapot. A few weeks ago, I believe someone posting In a Vase on Monday mentioned the 150th anniversary of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, so please if your read this, please 'admit' to starting me along this road. Instead of putting the dormouse into the teapot, I am putting flowers in the sugar basin! Blue Aster frikartii Monch. And a little of my new clover. Trifolium repens Dragon's Blood. Towards the end of the 18th cen...

Stasher: In a Vase on Monday - Cathy came to visit

Monday, 10 August 2015. In a Vase on Monday - Cathy came to visit. However on Friday, after the big birthday bash for the 125th Birthday Party of our Local Kenilworth Horticultural Society, someone had left bags of wild plums. Most of the weekend was taken up making preserves! I did not think that I had that much in flower, but this proves that a snip here and a snip there and suddenly there are 13 different plant materials to choose from. Dahlia. Pink from a cutting bought at the gardening club. What a ...

Thursday, 18 June 2015. Clematis make lovely cut flowers. Just wait a couple of days for the flower to firm up after it has opened, before cutting, and invariably the clematis will last well in water. This is the vase made up Monday. The roses are nearly over, but the clematis is doing very well. One started to flounder yesterday morning, so I snipped the stem and changed the water, plus one drop of bleach. Links to this post. Sunday, 31 May 2015. Life back from holiday continues apace, and I keep meaning to post just one more time on Mallorca, with short entries for different trips. I thought by entering a draft in date order that all the Mallorcan entries would have followed each other, but no. These were in the chapel at La Granja. And this one somewhere on the first story of a building in Palma. We set off for La Granja. On another day we walked along the Coast to Fundacio Pilar I Joan Miro. On the way back with my inb...

Monday, 29 September 2014. I've just checked and there are many ways to do this! Vicki took me to one of her favourite new places. Not far away. She had been clever and booked us in, otherwise they were turning people away. At first it was pretty noisy inside so we opted for a pavement seat for coffee and cake, but moved inside when it was time for lunch. It felt really warm in London, and I found the underground rather hot, so was pleased that I had layers on, which I shed along the way. Along the way w...

Stasher: Bugs in the Garden - Gatekeeper Butterfly
http://noellemace.blogspot.com/2015/07/bugs-in-garden_30.html
Thursday, 30 July 2015. Bugs in the Garden - Gatekeeper Butterfly. I have read up and found that this is a m ale Gatekeeper Butterfly. There have been several around the garden. This one is basking in the sunshine on the holy tree just behind the marjoram which they are on. I love the two figure of 8 on each forewing. It was still cold from the low temperatures overnight, and I caught this on my early morning slug and snail hunt yesterday. 3 August 2015 at 15:01. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Pictu...

Monday, 18 August 2014. Honey and Spice Cake by Dan Lepard and Richard Whittington. This recipe came straight out from 'Exceptional Cakes'. There was some rye flour, as well as wheat flour, three spices and honey, so much to like. This is the first time I have grated fresh ginger and just added the juice. This worked much better. Links to this post. And it was a reason to wash down everything on the counter afterwards. Links to this post. New Succulents from the Shrewsbury Show. The Kenilworth Horticultu...

Tuesday, 24 February 2015. The Forty Rules of Love. I've just returned this to the Library. I borrowed it on the evening when Elif Shafak came to Kenilworth Library. I started it just over a week ago. Its well worth reading. Links to this post. Where has all the Tate and Lyle Granulated Sugar gone? So I called them to ask about their sugar. I was told that it comes from various sources, could be beet could be cane, maybe a mixture.I feel this was an answer just to fob off a casual enquiry. Of course, I a...
