AP English @ WHS [E229]: Last AP post
http://apenglish-whs.blogspot.com/2008/06/last-ap-post.html
AP English @ WHS [E229]. A Discussion Forum for AP English Students at Washington High School. Monday, June 16, 2008. Thank you all for the amazing poems on Friday. I've never had such a powerful reading in all my years of teaching seniors. I know it was a bit brutal, but catharsis can be raw sometimes. I'm so very proud of you for having the courage to do what you did. Less work for me.). Sohere's to your graduation, a great summer, and the beginning of the rest of your lives! My website with downloads.

AP English @ WHS [E229]: So, who wants to order Chinese?
http://apenglish-whs.blogspot.com/2008/03/world-today-seems-absolutely-crackers.html
AP English @ WHS [E229]. A Discussion Forum for AP English Students at Washington High School. Friday, March 14, 2008. So, who wants to order Chinese? You wanna know what's really twisted? After our discussion of fake Chinese food today, I had to go to Panda Express for lunch. Just couldn't help myself, talking about it gave me a craving for faux chow mein and orange chicken (something my grandmother would NEVER tolerate in her kitchen). It's a little sad how these triggers work, isn't it? They only come...

AP English @ WHS [E229]. A Discussion Forum for AP English Students at Washington High School. Tuesday, April 15, 2008. If you want to see a creepy old man reading poetry. Sohere's the Youtube version of T.S. Eliot reading "The Waste Land," there's no corresponding video, just a slideshow of various related images. Here's Eliot reading "The Love Song of Alfred J. Prufrock" with actual video of him. He seems far less creepy, so I suspect the way "The Waste Land" comes across is intentional. No flaming....

AP English @ WHS [E229]: Cohabitation is good for the environment
http://apenglish-whs.blogspot.com/2007/12/cohabitation-is-good-for-environment.html
AP English @ WHS [E229]. A Discussion Forum for AP English Students at Washington High School. Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Cohabitation is good for the environment. I don't know about you, but I found this article to be hilarious! Environmental scientists just want us to hook up! It ties in to one of our underlying literary themes beautifully, doesn't it? It's times like this that I can believe art and science are compatible. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 1984 is so much more than a year. My website...

AP English @ WHS [E229]: What kind of elitist are you?
http://apenglish-whs.blogspot.com/2008/04/what-kind-of-elitist-are-you.html
AP English @ WHS [E229]. A Discussion Forum for AP English Students at Washington High School. Tuesday, April 22, 2008. What kind of elitist are you? I'm watching Colbert, and I just love this quote, from his interview with Susan Jacoby (author of The Age of American Unreason. Knowing things that other people don't know is the definition of elitist. You're an intellectual elitist if you know something and I don't." - Stephen Colbert. Rather than resenting, them for it? What about the fact that she genuin...

AP English @ WHS [E229]: On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.
http://apenglish-whs.blogspot.com/2008/01/on-second-thought-lets-not-go-to.html
AP English @ WHS [E229]. A Discussion Forum for AP English Students at Washington High School. Thursday, January 3, 2008. On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place. Has anyone seen Camelot, the Musical? It looks like it got the same treatment as Wicked. All the dark and morally ambiguous aspects get cleaned up for musical theater. I guess in a world where people spontaneously burst into song and dance, there is no room for darkness. Is this a comedy or tragedy? And as for that fatal...
