Musings of a Shoe Diva: May 2008

http://musingsofashoediva.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 20, 2008. And you think I love shoes. I have made some wonderful friends here in Taiwan. However, when we left the Philippines, I often wondered if my new friends would know me like the ones I left behind. I received the following photo's from a new, wonderful friend last week. I felt all warm and fuzzy because I knew she really knew what I was into - shoes! So, for those of you who know me, you think I love shoes? Well, obviously not as much as the following shoe owners. The musings of a se...

Musings of a Shoe Diva: January 2008

http://musingsofashoediva.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Year of the Shoe. February 7 will bring in the new Chinese New Year. In Taipei, this is an incredible sight to behold. More on that later - tomorrow we take 200 Grade Six students to Di Hua Street which is a veritable 'Year of the Rat' treasure chest prior to the Lunar New Year. However, after searching a number of CNY superstitions on the internet, I finally discovered the reason NOT to celebrate this Chinese tradition:. Hmmmmakes absolutely no sense to me! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Musings of a Shoe Diva: June 2007

http://musingsofashoediva.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 16, 2007. The greatest thing about shopping in Manila is the emergence of so many new Filipino designers - shoes, jewellry and clothing. Whatever the trend is in London Vogue, or even New York - many local designers have got their finger on the pulse and you can see these reflected in the many boutiques popping up around the city. Today I wanted to share a bit of my bling with you. As tis the season of the dress (and the weather is absolutely steaming! Lastly, the final purchases were from...

Musings of a Shoe Diva: And now we bring you.....seasons!

http://musingsofashoediva.blogspot.com/2007/11/and-now-we-bring-youseasons.html

Friday, November 09, 2007. And now we bring you.seasons! I had a sudden desire to post. Why? Well, for the last ten year, Fungus and I have lived on the equator or pretty darn close to it. Trust me, it is hard to remain eternally fashionable with sweat constantly running down your back. Taipei, on the other hand, has seasons! I can actually wear some of the things I drool over in English mags. As I sit here writing on my new lenovo X60 tablet (had to drop that in there - hah! I would have done if I hadn&...

Musings of a Shoe Diva: Shoe Life Part 2

http://musingsofashoediva.blogspot.com/2007/10/shoe-life-part-2.html

Wednesday, October 17, 2007. Shoe Life Part 2. SoI have a roof top as big as my apartment. Huge bonus here in Taipei as the roof is only for me and the dog - no sharing with other tenants.all ours. Bear in mind that this is still a work in progress. I have yet to purchase the plants and other trimmings to tame this concrete jungle. At the moment, it is still a lovely place to sit, sip wine and drink in the mountain views. As you enter the door:. Roof top design (again, a work in progress):. I would like ...

Puanbesar: August 2006

http://puanbesar.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 18, 2006. Pleasure - Part 2. Making a list of what pleases me has put me in such a jolly mood that I thought I would continue. I am also enjoying the fact that as nobody is reading this I don't need to concern myself about appearing shallow, inarticulate or plain stupid. I seem to have lost the ability to spell properly along with my desire to shop! Patsy and her tall tales. Being a vegetarian(had to look that up in the dictionary). Making blue and green cakes with the boys. The way my chi...

tohu va-bohu: October 2008

http://tohuva.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Or, "without form and void". Notes from a writer and english teacher living in bangkok, thailand. Monday, October 27, 2008. Look at the odd hyphenation in the following extract from this Newsweek. Ldquo; It is eerily quiet at Barack Obama's headquarters, an open expanse that takes up the entire 11th floor of an office tower in Chicago's Loop. It's nearly as silent as a study hall, which is appropriate, since most of the 20- or 30-somethings in it wear jeans and T shirts. Links to this post. My favorite er...

Or, "without form and void". Notes from a writer and english teacher living in bangkok, thailand. Sunday, October 26, 2008. The impact will blow trees back and crack statues. My favorite era in rap music was roughly ’94 to ’98, when East Coast hardcore was at its height. I loved the gritty, verbose, cryptic, violent sound of the Wu Tang Clan, Gravediggaz, Mobb Deep, the Boot Camp Clik and related groups. It was dense, paranoid and clanking music best suited for headphones on the subway. We had “It&...

Or, "without form and void". Notes from a writer and english teacher living in bangkok, thailand. Sunday, December 14, 2008. The Smartening and The Artening. I just wanted to quickly point out that in Japan, the best-selling video game for the last two weeks running. Has been the latest in the series of Professor Layton. Games In the UK, a recent release of an older Professor Layton game has also apparently been a great success. Each game has over a hundred hard-core logic puzzles, disguised by an atmosp...

http://tohuva.blogspot.com/2009/05/blue-badger-irl.html

Or, "without form and void". Notes from a writer and english teacher living in bangkok, thailand. Saturday, May 09, 2009. Just a random déja vu thing that happened to me during our recent trip to Japan - twice. I like a certain series. Of handheld video games about cartoon lawyers. A typical case will revolve around bringing to light, through a long process of investigation and examining evidence, that the accused is left-handed when the murder weapon was a right-handed golf club. Or whatever. I guess mo...

Or, "without form and void". Notes from a writer and english teacher living in bangkok, thailand. Wednesday, April 22, 2009. An American Nerd in Tokyo. Nevertheless, I have in my own sad way been preparing for our recent trip to Japan for about 25 years now. It all began in August, 1984, when I read G.I. Joe comic book issue number 26. This was my first encounter with ninjas. Ninjas are totally awesome. I don’t think I need to say anything more on the subject. I could probably go on for thousands of word...

Or, "without form and void". Notes from a writer and english teacher living in bangkok, thailand. Thursday, October 02, 2008. Rembrandt is one of those painters who (whom? I normally admire, but don’t love. Perhaps it’s just because his name comes up so often that I have tuned him out, or perhaps it’s because some of his paintings in the museums I’ve frequented, like his creepy self-portrait.
