Quilt Odyssey: July 2016
http://myquiltodyssey.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html
Quilts are my hobby. The boat is my home. Saturday, July 30, 2016. Stash serendipity and a finish. Let's start with the finish. This baby quilt is done and ready to be sent off to welcome little Brooklyn Faith in Nebraska! She is the brand new daughter of my stepmother's nephew and his wife. I knew I had exactly the right fabric: this super cute panel featuring owls, and their friends the hedgehog, the little birdie, and the fox. In stash accumulation news,. I received this big batch last week. The s...
Quilt Odyssey: January 2017
http://myquiltodyssey.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html
Quilts are my hobby. The boat is my home. Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Gulf Coast Churn Dash. Earlier this month, I was inspired by the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Color of the month to sew up a few purple chunky churn dash blocks. Well, I'm just not suited for these monthly quilt along thingies, because I don't have the discipline to wait for the next clue/color/block/whatever. I was originally inspired by Claudia's quilt. Which is now finished (isn't it gorgeous? Gulf Coast Churn Dash. Is a charity quilt.
Quilt Odyssey: August 2016

Quilts are my hobby. The boat is my home. Friday, August 19, 2016. I've set up the Juki. And started using it to quilt this gift piece. Right now I'm slowly stitching in the ditch around all the rectangles and will eventually fill in the cream background. Sunday, August 14, 2016. This week, a wonderful surprise arrived in the mail. A huge, 11 pound box of fabric from Sue of Suebee's World! What a fantastic batch of fabrics she sent me! Thank you so much, Sue! The other fun item that arrived. I've just fi...
Quilt Odyssey: April 2016
http://myquiltodyssey.blogspot.com/2016_04_01_archive.html
Quilts are my hobby. The boat is my home. Friday, April 29, 2016. I was very excited to see a couple of my blocks today. On Kat and Cat Quilts. Kat asked for adult-themed I-spy quilt blocks for the month of March, and I sent in several but forgot to take any pictures of them. That's my little plover in the navy blue square, and my artichoke surrounded by kitchen appliances. You should go look at the entire quilt at the link above; it turned out beautifully! Oh, that bicycle! I stitched red hearts all alo...
Quilt Odyssey: Boat basting
http://myquiltodyssey.blogspot.com/2016/12/boat-basting.html
Quilts are my hobby. The boat is my home. Friday, December 2, 2016. It took me a while to figure out the best way to baste quilts. On the boat, and I thought I'd share that process on today's post. We only have two rectangular tables, and both are quite small. The one in the salon has fiddles, which is a raised lip all the way around to keep items from sliding off as the boat rocks. Unless the quilt is smaller than 20"x44", the fiddles keep the quilt from laying flat. A queen mattress is 60"x80", so baby...

Shadow Block Mini Gallery. Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Sewing Space and House Update. Every once in a while, a quilt blogger will show us her sewing space. Some of you ladies out there are born decorators! I really enjoy those "insider" views. My fellow quilt blogger Melva over at Melva Loves Scraps. Is hosting a linky party for anybody who would like to share their sewing space with us. My space is VERY temporary! So the fabric you see piled on that book case is everything I've purchased in the last year.

Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life. Tag Archives: Big Quilts. March 1, 2017. To be honest, each quilt I’ve made is a favorite in some way or another, but there is one particular quilt that still makes me smile whenever I think of it. I do not own the quilt; it was made for someone else. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, and let me tell you about it. If my memory serves, the book where she had found the pattern for the panel was. Quilts in the Tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright. If you are familiar with Frank ...

Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life. Bits and Pieces Friday. March 10, 2017. At our quilt group last night, we shared our favorite tips for quilting. Here are a few that were new to me:. 8211; Pick up cheap pool noodles at the dollar store, cut them to size, and roll your blocks or smaller quilts tops on them. You can easily secure the quilts to the noodle with pins. Rolling the blocks/quilts avoids creases, and the noodles are light and easy to transport if you are heading to a sewing day. Share it wi...
Sundrops fabric | Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life

Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life. Tag Archives: Sundrops fabric. January 11, 2017. We finally have a winter wonderland look in our backyard. We had about 3 inches of snow yesterday, and a little more today. It makes everything look so much better, but really messes up the drive time for those heading to work. I’m happy to be here at home, where my commute is up and down the stairs. I shared this little quote on Instagram yesterday. Thought I’d share it with you today. Happy Wednesday, friends! Enter...

Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life. Category Archives: quilt projects. Bits and Pieces Friday. March 10, 2017. At our quilt group last night, we shared our favorite tips for quilting. Here are a few that were new to me:. 8211; Okay, this wasn’t new to me, but thought I’d share it anyway. Sandpaper is a great base to use under fabric when you need to draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. It holds the fabric steady so there is less distortion to the bias as you draw the line. I thought these were ...

Our Odyssey: Escape from Stuart

Saturday, April 19, 2014. At the north end of Lake Worth (the lake, not the eponymous village), in the town of North Palm Beach, Florida ( map. Notwithstanding my last post, wherein I opined that we might shove off Wednesday morning, the weather for an outside run deteriorated, and we held off for another couple of days hoping for good weather on the outside. Once we had the anchor set here. This morning we had intended to move. Fortunately, the raw water impeller. Is pretty easy to access on this genera...
Our Odyssey: Once in a blue moon
http://ourodyssey.blogspot.com/2015/08/once-in-blue-moon.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. Once in a blue moon. We are still anchored off Pier-i. Vector as seen from Riverside Drive. Pier-i is in the foreground. The current is so swift it looks like we have a wake. But otherwise we've enjoyed most of what comes from the pier. Pier, as seen from our deck, filling up for The Great Gatsby. Inflatable projection screen is to the right. Lots of mallards living at the boat basin right now, including these five ducklings with their mother. We had arranged for a few things.
Our Odyssey: Nice visit in NJ
http://ourodyssey.blogspot.com/2014/07/nice-visit-in-nj.html
Thursday, July 24, 2014. Nice visit in NJ. We are at Hoffman's Marina West. In Brielle, New Jersey ( map. We are here in Brielle. Because my parents live just a few miles away, in Brick, and we wanted to visit with them. The Manasquan River actually runs through Brick, but it gets too shallow for us just upstream of the highway bridge, less than a mile from here. They drove down and met us yesterday, and after a brief tour of Vector. We weighed anchor Tuesday morning. We are glad we waited. The extra day...
Our Odyssey: Retracing our steps
http://ourodyssey.blogspot.com/2015/08/retracing-our-steps.html
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. We are under way. In Long Island Sound, east bound for Port Jefferson harbor. Now that we are back in open water, I can use some of our time under way to blog. It's a beautiful day on the sound, with little traffic. This morning found us at anchor in Manhasset Bay ( map. Stop Unlike our last visit. The World Trade Center tower and lower Manhattan, coming down the Hudson. We had a whopping four knots behind us, and we whizzed past the United Nations doing nearly 11 knots. The pump...

Quilts are my hobby. The boat is my home. Monday, January 9, 2017. I've been working on a couple of scrappy projects lately. One is the Hillside Houses Quilt Along from Pretty Little Quilts. I made three blocks for the January/February block drive. Tutorial, watched it twice, and took the plunge. It was actually kind of fun! The two triangles in the photo are about 5" tall, and made from the same piece of striped fabric. I didn't like the fabric, so it was great for experimenting. However, I love...Poste...

January 12, 2017. Not much happening here. Because I am back to my 40 hour work week after the holidays and been doing it for a couple of weeks, the tiredness returns and when I am not cooking, cleaning, bathing children, commuting, I am trying to truly relax. I find quilting very relaxing and need to get back onto the Farm Girl Vintage tractor quilt. A few posts ago, I shared a chenille laptop sack. Here is a good close up of all those fabrics cut on the bias, edges perfectly fringed just by laundering.
