Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Larr; Anderton and Onwards. Waiting in Worsley & Leigh →. Stockton Heath to Worsley. Any thoughts of a lie in were shattered by a the sounds of a strimmer just over the fence, so we moved off as soon as we had had breakfast. The Bridgewater Canal is quite deep and broad so good progress can be made, what was remarkable was how few boats were on the move. Lymm looks like a nice place and we will visit on our way back this way. We to...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Larr; Under starter’s orders for Liverpool. Goodbye to Liverpool →. The Leaving Of Liverpool. Farewell to Princes’ landing stage, River Mersey fare thee well. I am bound for California, a place I know right well. Yes, tomorrow we will be leaving Liverpool after 12 days in Salthouse Dock with the luxury of mains electricity, not for California of course, but what have we done since our last report? Ferry cross the Mersey. There alwa...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Larr; Stockton Heath to Worsley. Catching up at Downholland →. Waiting in Worsley & Leigh. As our schedule dictates we don’t need to be in the Aintree area until 26th we stayed in Worsley for the weekend and on Saturday enjoyed their Summer Fair on The Green, the star turn for my money was The Afterhours Rauchestra. Who performed swing and jazz classics through the afternoon. From which the extract below taken. So here we sit so w...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Under starter’s orders for Liverpool. Sunday morning 12 boats lined up at Hancock`s Swing Bridge and we went through in two convoys of 6 to Salthouse Dock it took about 6 hours. The C&RT guys cheerfully did the locks and bridges for us in the rain. Before we reached Stanley Locks Chris had to stop 3 times and open weed hatch to clear the propeller of rubbish. Narrowboat Briar Rose: A-Wey for a barbecue
http://nbbriarrose.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-wey-for-barbecue.html
Saturday, 8 August 2015. A-Wey for a barbecue. We knew Carol and George from. Were on the River Wey, the closest connected waterway to home, so we got in touch and arranged a visit for the afternoon. The result was a big boater's barbecue, because Sue and Vic of. Were also moored at Send, with family visitors. The smallest of the assembled dogs, Molly from Still Rockin' also looked the most relaxed. It was a great evening, with good company, and an excellent barbecue by George. 8 August 2015 at 22:20.
nb Lucky Duck: January 2013

Sunday, 27 January 2013. Well, not actually. We didn't really charge any money for towing, but I thought up that title a few weeks ago and have been dying to use it. Right, let's start at the beginning. Two friends, Other Amy and Kirsty, are in the process of buying Pyewacket. The ex-Merchant Navy lifeboat owned by another friend of ours, that we towed to Waterbeach in 201. Sunday was to be the long trip to Ely, but it didn't get off to a good start. Strong winds and torrential rain resulted in the r...

Narrowboat Briar Rose: Pre Crick: Day 2
http://nbbriarrose.blogspot.com/2015/05/pre-crick-day-2.html
Thursday, 21 May 2015. Pre Crick: Day 2. Our locking partners were an experienced boat share couple out of Gayton, and with boats heading down the locks, we made decent progress. Some of the pounds look rather full when there are two uphill and two downhill boats swapping locks. At the penultimate lock, our lock companions were joined by their daughter and three year old grandson. He's got three years experience of boating, and like pushing lock gates! 20 miles, 7 locks. Labels: Buckby Bottom Lock. Glad ...
Narrowboat Briar Rose: October 2014
http://nbbriarrose.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, 31 October 2014. An early drive up the M1 and across the Peak District to eastern Cheshire this morning, to the Victoria Pit moorings at Higher Poynton for a boat test. We did the running shots first as it was sunnier than we'd dared hope. When we were all done, we popped into Braidbar to see Susan and Peter, and then had a Bakewell tart at the Trading Post. Thursday, 30 October 2014. As usual, everything was fine. Friday, 3 October 2014. The November issue of Canal Boat. This blog contains detai...
nb Lucky Duck: Willow's History
http://nbluckyduck.blogspot.com/2013/02/willows-history.html
Sunday, 24 February 2013. For us, one of the best things about owning an historic boat is the history behind it, and the cargoes carried and routes used, along with the people who worked the boat. Here's what we know so far after a little research; we're planning on visiting the waterways archives to discover more! It was advertised for sale, and was sold into private ownership in 1979, despite it being sunk at the time! Photographs of Willow (not Oak) at Hayhurst Yard in the 1970s. Want to buy the Duck?
nb Lucky Duck: September 2012
http://nbluckyduck.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 24 September 2012. James and I spent the weekend in Cornwall, celebrating my dad's 60th, with dad, my two sisters, their partners, my dad's partner Karen, her sons, and her parents. We rented two caravans in North Cornwall, on Trevose Head, near to Treyarnon Bay, where we spent many a happy summer when we were younger. Our caravans were very cosy, but felt positively spacious to us boat-dwellers! Thursday, 20 September 2012. With a little help from this fellow:. Monday, 17 September 2012. But, we...

April 9, 2018.
