Ruby Loves Red: August 2014
http://rubylovesred.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 13 August 2014. Let me tell you a bit about my entry for the Sewvivor Sew-A-Long first challenge which is Nautical. Don't believe me, look it up). The whale swam into the Firth of Tay in 1883, it was harpooned, escaped and found dead a week later. The whale's skeleton is displayed in the McManus Galleries in Dundee. I regretted the decision to hand embroider these lines pretty quickly.it took SO long to do! The quilting differs all over the piece. Some wavy lines on the darker blue section...

Ruby Loves Red: July 2014
http://rubylovesred.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 31 July 2014. I recently signed up to another Quilt-a-long through Instagram. This one is hosted by Angie of Gnome Angel. And she selected the Sea Breeze Mini Quilt by Canoe Ridge Creations. You can buy the pattern here. If you want to give it a shot yourself. Go on go on go on! Actually it's only my second time using a pattern as I'm normally a bit of a make it up as you go along kinda gal. Anyway, it's only a mini so I thought it couldn't really be too painful haha! Ruby Loves Red: January 2014
http://rubylovesred.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 17 January 2014. My parents have taken Sam out for a walk, I have a cup of tea, I can still drink it whilst it's hot and I also have some silence! Thursday, 16 January 2014. Saw these hand prints in the cement whilst out walking this afternoon. All I could think about was the fun and cheeky giggles that must've been going on whilst the family did this :). Ruby Loves Red: March 2014
http://rubylovesred.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, 13 March 2014. Patchwork and Quilting Classes. I'm going to be taking some evening classes in patchwork and quilting at the wonderful Kitschnbake cafe. The class is suitable for complete beginners, all you need is your own sewing machine and to be able to see a straight line with it, as easy as that. We will start by making some simple quilt blocks then move onto individual projects which can be pieced, basted, quilted and bound into lovely handmade masterpieces! Thursday, 6 March 2014. I hand ...

Ruby Loves Red: June 2014
http://rubylovesred.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 22 June 2014. Oh and this was my effort! This was my effort from the quilting classes made up from some of the demonstration blocks I had being making. I used this as a guide over the weeks to show how the different processes work and it is destined to become a wall hanging for the vestibule. Unlike all the wonderful students though I've still not completed it, shame on me! It just needs the binding sewn on and that'll be it finished. Maybe this week! Well done ladies, keep up the good work!

Ruby Loves Red: This Weeks Project
http://rubylovesred.blogspot.com/2014/07/this-weeks-project.html
Friday, 11 July 2014. I received my new bundle of fabrics from the Blueberry Park Fabric Club recently so thought I'd put them to work straight away. I wasn't sure where I was going or what I was going to make but in true 'me' style just went for it and made it up as I went along. At this point I decided to give hand quilting a bit of a shot, perhaps not my best idea but fun nonetheless. The front looks ok but the back is shall we say, slightly more interesting! Nothing a bit of practice won't sort haha.

Ruby Loves Red: Respect
http://rubylovesred.blogspot.com/2014/07/respect.html
Saturday, 5 July 2014. I have so much respect for the quilters out there who can spend hours cutting, stitching, trimming and piecing! I love the look of a whole load of HSTs sewn together with the points matching up, perfectly aligned but after trying it out I know I would never have enough patience to complete a quilt like this (unless the squares were huge or I spent about a year on the thing haha! Tuesday, 28 July 2015. Paving Stone Block - Bee Europa. This month is is my turn to take over the Hive in my quilting Bee - "Bee Europa" and i'm pretty excited about it! I have sent everyone 8 coloured squares and 8 low volume white/cream coloured squares each measuring 5 inches. (The packages sent to each of you vary in colour, i apologise in advance if you end up with a colour you dislike). Arrange your blocks like the image below, the corner blocks being coloured and the centre square coloured (don't ...
