smallholderwannabe: Trouble with moths
http://smallholderwannabe.blogspot.com/2015/07/trouble-with-moths.html
This blog is mainly a rambling kind of diary of the transition from smallholderwannabe to smallholder. Sunday, July 05, 2015. We're having a lot of trouble with moths at the moment. Anyone else suffering with moths? And my old cat is hanging on by a thread. She is noticeably weaker but not showing many signs of pain. She still obviously takes pleasure in some things but the day of reckoning is drawing nearer and I'm dreading it even if I know that it is the final kindness that I can do for her.

I Blame Enid Blyton. Thursday, 30 August 2012. Guilt of a Working Mum. Mini A wanted to decorate her cakes for family and friends. I wanted to show her how, but she insisted on doing it herself. I must say, not bad for a for a first attempt. and on tiptoes too may I add. All in all a very productive evening, in more ways than one. Baking provided delicious treats for tomorrow, increased maths and life skills, and most importantly it provided quality time together,. For a short while anyway! However, star...

Container gardening in my small front garden - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/05/01/container-gardening-in-my-small-front-garden
May 1, 2013. Container gardening in my small front garden. Last year because we had so little time at the weekends. To the right of my door we plant into the ground and have a mixture of spring and summer bulbs plus perennials and grasses. Look at how this little pot has come on in the last few weeks. I love my Skimmia Japonica (below), it was tiny when I moved in and has really flourished. Even a house with no garden can have a window box – providing there’s a window ledge! You might also like:. Summer favourites - sweet peas - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/09/07/summer-favourites-sweet-peas
September 7, 2013. Summer favourites – sweet peas. I have to admit that I’ve never picked sweet peas for the house before and I’ve only been growing them for a couple of years. I used to think the sweet candy coloured varieties that were popular years ago were sickly and a little kitsch but after buying a willow planter full of them two years back, I’ve changed my mind! So much so, I even started sowing the seeds for this summer back in November. My experiments with sweet peas:. C) April: Sowed tons of s...

A little bit of country life in West London…. We began the Kitchen Garden project in 2009 by making and installing raised beds. The first four are for brassicas, legumes, alliums and roots which we plant in rotation and have a separate beds for asparagus, soft fruits and rhubarb. We also have a grape vine and eleven fruit and nut trees; apples, pears, plums, figs, peaches and almonds. After a year of over-grown paths (poppies and rocket were our main competitors! Now for the grapevine……. On September 22,...
