Our House: November 2014
http://liddell6.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 24, 2014. For Veteran's Day we decided to go to Darmstadt. Only about 1/2 hour from where we live, Darmstadt was the capital of Hesse, which was an independent country until the formation of the German Empire in 1871. Side note, I recently read this. Article, and it mentions President Uchtdorf and his family lived in Darmstadt when the Berlin wall came down :). Here are some of the things we've seen so far. Wilhelminenplatz, with the Church of St. Ludwig in the background. We also notice...

Our House: February 2015
http://liddell6.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 2, 2015. I propose that there are actually 5 seasons - Spring, Summer, Fall, Christmas Winter, and Ugly Winter. I seriously get excited for Christmas Winter every year, and I especially love a White Christmas. It's beautiful, it's festive, it's magical. Usually the temperature isn't too terrible, and you can actually enjoy the outdoors. Sledding and building snowmen, then drinking Hot Cocoa to warm up. It's a Winter Wonderland. Sunday, February 1, 2015. Joe and I had the opportunity to t...

Is it better than a brownie?: November 2014
http://isitbetterthanabrownie.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Is it better than a brownie? Saturday, November 29, 2014. I am at the airport on my way to China for three weeks. It still seems odd that I am the one always leaving while Husband stays behind. He is in charge og Christmas this year and we're all a little afraid. The amazing Christmas tree place that delivers isn't delivering this year, so he has to get the tree himself. See why we're nervous? Child 2, on the other hand, filled up her list with things that never existed in real life! So since slicing off...

Is it better than a brownie?: February 2015

Is it better than a brownie? Monday, February 23, 2015. Is that "cha" the one that means car or tea? To learn the local language, it's that the Foreign Service Institute in its wisdom insists on teaching words and phrases that are completely not useful in every day life. And the answer to that question is never. I have never had a full course of language training before leaving for Post, and I also suspect that even if I had, it probably wouldn't matter. Proper greetings and salutations on letters. She h...

Our House: May 2015
http://liddell6.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Over Memorial Day weekend, Joe and I wanted to go explore Heidelberg. Our kids did not want to go walk around another boring town, looking at churches and castle ruins. What? Whatever, we went with out them. Who needs dumb kids anyway? Mark Twain wrote about Heidelberg castle, specifically the split turret (pictures below) in. Second is the Heidelberg Tun, the world's largest wine barrel. It was built in 1751 to hold all the wine that was paid as taxes from the local wine gro...

Our House: Maddy
http://liddell6.blogspot.com/2015/07/maddy.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. I'm late posting this, but we DID celebrate Madelyn's birthday. Actually, back at the very end of May we had a COMBINED birthday party for Alex and Madelyn. Remember how we were supposed to have a party for Alex, and it kept getting later and later, and Madelyn kept reminding/bugging me about it? Well, I finally suggested that we do theirs together, and they actually thought it was a good idea. Phew! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). We are a military family, and proud of it!

Is it better than a brownie?: DC does too count as a Post!
http://isitbetterthanabrownie.blogspot.com/2015/06/dc-does-too-count-as-post.html
Is it better than a brownie? Tuesday, June 23, 2015. DC does too count as a Post! Packout begins tomorrow, so of course I am blogging. I should be sorting dishes, packing my suitcase, and washing all the sheets. But I'm tired and I've had packing nightmares all week so I am avoiding the thing that scares me by thinking about the thing that terrifies me- actually leaving. Because the worst is always funnier. The Community Liaison Officer is nowhere to be found, so whenever someone wants to do something fu...

Wednesday, December 25, 2013. I do so love this tradition :) Last year we had one of the stockings rip, and this year we couldn't find one, so these are new, but temporary stockings. I'm hoping to get some new ones in Germany next year! Tuesday, December 24, 2013. Peace on Earth, Goodwill Toward Men. My version of a last-minute Christmas card. Better late than never? Is it better than a brownie?: It's a new kind of color blind
http://isitbetterthanabrownie.blogspot.com/2015/08/its-new-kind-of-color-blind.html
Is it better than a brownie? Saturday, August 8, 2015. It's a new kind of color blind. I live in India. I know this does not come as a shock to many of you because I wrote months and months ago about how I was moving to India. But it has actually happened! So obviously living in India has its challenges, but exploring a new city with places like this is way better than a brownie. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Where did all these scrunchies come from? I dont care if I get detention! We are the People.

Is it better than a brownie?: Where the streets have no name
http://isitbetterthanabrownie.blogspot.com/2015/08/where-streets-have-no-name.html
Is it better than a brownie? Sunday, August 16, 2015. Where the streets have no name. On Friday, we moved into our new house, finally! He has NO respect for tradition. Some words, anyway. What we thought was a pot of spaghetti with noodles sticking out was actually a hand reaching into a tub. So spaghetti was hand wash. Which makes me wonder what the butterfly was. Were we supposed to only put butterflies in the wash? Is a butterfly more delicate than a flower? August 19, 2015 at 11:53 PM. 69th Secretary...
