Growing Plants in Pots. Plant Nanny Watering Stakes. The first greenhouse I bought was this one which is actually sold for school classrooms. It’s super cute and very easy to assemble. However, it did not protect my plants from an unexpected plunge to the high 20s one night. For now, I am keeping the smaller greenhouse inside the larger one. I removed the second shelf from the smaller greenhouse and it easily holds 8 to 10 plants in gallon pots.

Growing Plants in Pots. Plant Nanny Watering Stakes. I’m not sure if it’s the rarest plant I’ve added to my collection but it is the newest. The Katuk is known by many names: Sweet Bush, Bù Ngót, Star Gooseberry, and Sauropus Androgynus. It is another edible plant similar to the Moringa. From the limited information I’ve found online, the plant needs to be in well draining soil, doesn’t like full sun or freezing temperatures but does like lots of water. According to edibleplantproject.org. Katuk, Sauropu...

Growing Plants in Pots. Plant Nanny Watering Stakes. Video: Update May 7, 2013. Looking at these early videos I can't help but wish that my current garden was in as pristine a condition as it was when these videos were made. http://patspatiogarden.com/hibiscus.htm
Growing Plants in Pots. Plant Nanny Watering Stakes. I’ve always liked hibiscus so adding at least one to my patio garden was a definite. As could be expected, once I started looking for the “right” hibiscus, I couldn’t stop with just one. I’m taking a chance as the hibiscus I like are tropicals and do best in Zones 10 and 11; they don’t tolerate frost or the lower temperatures of Zone 9(a). At this time, the following hisbiscus are included in my patio garden (descriptions are from growers):. Is an old ...

Growing Plants in Pots. Plant Nanny Watering Stakes. Video: Avocados from Seed. I’ve decided to try my luck at growing an avocado tree from a seed. This man’s video explains the process better than I can describe it. My seed has been growing in water for about two months and has a long root, a few smaller roots, and one thin four inch leafless stem so far. When it gets larger and more photogenic I will post a photo. The following is a link to a PDF from the University of Florida.

Pat's Patio Garden
Growing Plants in Pots. Plant Nanny Watering Stakes. In February of 2013, I decided to make the time to try to grow a variety of plants in containers on my screened patio. Those plants included blueberries, bananas, and others that appealed to me. I started off with Geopots for containers as I like the “air root pruning” concept of fabric grow pots. And, since I hadn’t had too much luck with other containers it seemed to be time to try something new. I made this video on February 27, 2013. No doubt I mis...

PAT'S PATTER
Saturday, September 1, 2012. It has been a long 8 months. Filled with tons of emotion, sadness, tears and work. But now I have to find a new way to go on with my life. I find myself wondering what should I do first. It's like I have been in a tunnel and have come out into the light. Now the big job begins. I have physical therapy and hopefully that will help me become more able to move better and without so much pain. Sunday, May 27, 2012. Sunday, January 15, 2012. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. STITCHING MENDS MY SOUL". Thursday, December 3, 2015. Look what was delivered today - Aurifil thread from Craftsy's Thanksgiving weekend sale. That was quick. The small spools were only $2.50. They will be gifts. I love to hook my quilting friends on this super thread. The large cone is for me. I use Aurifil for piecing, and that cone should last a long time. Pat from Florida and Michigan.
