Book reviews, political links, general musings. The Broken Faithful on Mother’s Day. Posted by Sara @ Paperfences. Asymp; 7 Comments. But I have also felt unsettled by Mother’s Day. So I will go to church tomorrow, though yesterday was the day of horrible finality and ending of my pregnancy with Baby #4. In my raw pain, I am sure that something said in regards to Mother’s Day will sting because no church can possibly cover all bases in regards to this issue. But where else can I go? So tomorrow, I will s...

Something Better: August 2009
http://angelaparlin.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Sometimes I'm running, a hundred miles an hour, in the wrong direction. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. The Word of God Is. I thank the God of this Universe that. The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. God's Word changes us every day when we let it. It is not outdated; it is not just a story; it is not. Is the Rock eternal. It's a tough lesson, Trust. A...

Something Better: Think About...
http://angelaparlin.blogspot.com/2009/11/think-about.html
Sometimes I'm running, a hundred miles an hour, in the wrong direction. Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Being unable to cure death, wretchedness, and ignorance, men have decided, in order to be happy, not to think about such things. Is someone you love running in the wrong direction, going astray the way “all we like sheep” tend to do? Are you enduring the sickness of a loved one? Have you already lost someone you really needed? What about the marriage you hung your hope on? Maybe you did become a Mommy, but ...

Something Better: February 2009

Sometimes I'm running, a hundred miles an hour, in the wrong direction. Monday, February 16, 2009. A Life Lived Well. I have tried several times over the last couple of weeks to post something, anything, just to stay alive in the blog world. And while I have several drafts sitting in the queue, nothing seems post-worthy. On Friday, the road took another turn, and Kristi went to meet Jesus. I am having a hard time believing that this friend who I spoke with several times a week just a few months ago i...

Something Better: America Vs. Osama bin Laden
http://angelaparlin.blogspot.com/2011/05/america-vs-osama-bin-laden.html
Sometimes I'm running, a hundred miles an hour, in the wrong direction. Thursday, May 5, 2011. America Vs. Osama bin Laden. I climbed into bed Sunday night and heard the announcement on the news. It was 10:30 pm, and the President planned to address the nation soon after. I said, "Do you think it's something about Libya? My husband thought they might have found Osama bin Laden. He often calls the twists in movies long before we get to them, so I was not surprised to learn moments later, he was right.

Renee's thoughts on God, writing, parenting, baking, and life in general. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Love means never having to say you're sorry. -. I saw this old quote on Facebook today. I've always disliked it. Why? According to this mentality, love means never having to apologize for hurting that significant other. Love means you never have to admit you were wrong. Love means you can protect your pride. It's extremely convenient. And it's a load of hogwash. To quote another book:. How to (almost) ...

Something Better: April 2011
http://angelaparlin.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sometimes I'm running, a hundred miles an hour, in the wrong direction. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Home's Cool But So Is School. Early in my adult life here in NC, I met a family who homeschooled their children and went on to have six kiddos. SIX! Unfortunately, I said it out loud then. I could never, would never, would never even WANT to, homeschool. Oh my word, it's SO not me. Does anyone else have a list of things they said they'd never do that they are currently doing? What is wrong with me. We loved ...
