Linda's Lens

Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Grand Canyon - Sunrise, Desert View, and Surprise Snowstorm. I'm gonna inundate you with photos again. Bright Angel Traihead, just before sunrise. Remember in my last post I mentioned that snow was forecast the following day? Well I spent a extremely cold night in my unheated van (although equipped with a plug-in heater, I mistakenly chose a campsite without electrical hookups - doh! Nice light in the canyon. Colors are getting brigher. Although cloudy skies hid the sunrise, a ...

Linda's Lens: A Deacon in the Family

https://photomomlinda.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-deacon-in-family.html

Tuesday, August 11, 2015. A Deacon in the Family. Those of you who have followed my blog for awhile know that my son Cody has been attending seminary. For the past five years, he's been studying to become a priest. A huge step towards this goal is the ordination to a deacon, which usually occurs one year prior to the priestly ordination. In a late June ceremony, my son officially became a deacon. A proud mom moment! Lovely cathedral of Saint Helena. The inside is just as stunning. Although the exterior w...

Linda's Lens: December 2014

https://photomomlinda.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. As with previous years, I've chosen a representative photo from each month of blog posts. Not all images chosen were my very best. Some got the nod because they captured an especially meaningful moment in my life. I hope you enjoy my 2014 visual scrapbook! A low amount of snow in the mountains meant hiking instead of skiing. Accompanied by friends John and Young, we traversed the Columbia River Gorge in search of the famed Ornament Trail. Crater Lake in Winter. On skis. ...

Linda's Lens: January 2015

https://photomomlinda.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Lately I've had a fascination with the Oregon coast. Looking across the Columbia River to Washington. Normally on the mountain this time of year, I never visit the ocean beaches. But still barred from skiing, in early January, I set my sights westward. It all started with an excellent New Year's Day. Afternoon at Cannon Beach. That trip whetted my appetite for further exploration. One is more friendly than the others. Squabbling over stale popcorn. I caught one guy in flight.

Linda's Lens: May 2015

https://photomomlinda.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 30, 2015. Sunrise at the Tulip Farm. The alarm buzzed at 3:30 am. Groggily, I stumbled out of my warm bed. Ugh - all I wanted to do was crawl back in and continue catching Z's. Oh, this was insane! Here comes the sun! Such is the life of a photography enthusiast. I'd signed up for a class led by a professional photographer. We were meeting at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm (the same place I'd visited in early April. Rising over the tulips. Hazy skies make incredible sunrises. Smoke from large w...

Linda's Lens: Hardy Ridge Friday

https://photomomlinda.blogspot.com/2015/05/hardy-ridge-friday.html

Wednesday, May 20, 2015. I love it when John sends a hike invitation that coincides with my Friday off. The gang's all here! Wanting to take advantage of this sunny April day, John chose a trail that promised big views - Hardy Ridge, on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. I'd hiked Hardy Ridge for the first time last June. John gets up close and personal with a flower. UPF (unidentified purple flower). There were other flowers blooming, equally as pretty, but we had no idea of their names.

Blue Roads to Hiking Trails. Roadtripping with Gene and Judi. The Road to Full-Timing. Living in a Class C. The Road to Full-Timing. We love to travel; who doesn’t? The thought of going to a National Park like Yellowstone, Yosemite, or the Great Smoky Mountains and stay a month hiking and exploring was intoxicating. Figuring out a way to make that happen took hours upon hours of discussion. We bought a larger tent, we bought cots, we bought a dining canopy, we bought a BIG cooler, and we bought a minivan...

This log is going to be a nice resting log for a long time to come. It was a good day for hot tea with lunch. At 27 miles West Prong Trail ends at the junction with Bote Mountain Trail. Going right at this junction would take us 1.2 miles to Laurel Creek Road which would be a nice 8-mile hike. We opted to go left for just three-tent...Love your...

Blue Roads to Hiking Trails. Roadtripping with Gene and Judi. The Road to Full-Timing. Living in a Class C. Sunday, September 9, 2012. A Round On The Maryville Greenway. Some days there seems to be more to do than we can get done, certainly more than we can get done and also got for a hike. But on those days we still want to get a little exercise so we choose the Maryville Greenway. For our most recent walk, we started at Sandy Springs Park and walked to the end of the Greenway at Foothills School. T...

Married with children Armed with Camera. Sunday was the big day! 19, 19, 1985! The day I had been training for for almost 7 monthsthe Borgess Run for the Health of It Half Marathon. It was cool and sunny, perfect for running. I had my running buddy, Reita with me. We started this journey together and we were going to finish it together, too. 13 miles is a LONG run! The last 3 miles were the most difficult and I found that I struggled the most through mile 12. Here are some more photos! Journey to 13.1.
