The Nonlinear Optics Web Site. NLOsource is maintained by Mark G. Kuzyk. I seem to be continually explaining nonlinear optics to students and to the public. I have found no good single source with simple explanations, nor is there a good repository of resources. I am therefore publishing this site with basic tutorials as well as more sophisticated discussions for experts. Photo: Mark G. Kuzyk, on the Spirit of Darwin, Darwin Australia, August 2006. Some of the tutorials are based on a series of lectures ...

The Nonlinear Optics Web Site. This area will provide teaching resources for students and educators. Please send comments and suggestions for educational materials to the site administrator. This area will offer resources and activities for students of all ages. Stay tuned! We will discuss topics of interest to undergraduates and provide technical resources that will enable university students with a sophomore/junior-level of math and science to understand nonlinear optics. Reversing the Arrow of Time Using Polymer-Dye Interactions. The arrow of time is characterized by a physical process that is irreversible (see ICOOPMA 2010. Most materials degrade under high-dose exposure to light: colored paper fades in sunlight and leaves burn at the focus of a magnifying lens. However, certain molecules that would normally photodegrade in vacuum or liquid solution. Have been demonstrated to self heal when left in the dark. The Nonlinear Optics Laboratory. Outreach | WSU OSA-SPIE
http://wsu.osahost.org/outreach
A Chapter of the Optical Society. Demos & Activities. Meetings & Conferences. WSU OSA-SPIE has a science demonstration for students in grades 3 through 5. The program is roughly 30 minutes long and discusses sound. Students are exposed to the Doppler effect, beat frequencies, and resonance. The talk is accentuated by a closing demonstration with our Ruben’s Tube. For more information about our outreach program, please contact our officers. We are supported by both The Optical Society (OSA).
