Today’s lesson | Physics and Barbells
https://physicsandbarbells.wordpress.com/2012/10/17/todays-lesson
Physics teacher and lifting coach keeping track of random thoughts. October 17, 2012. Today’s lesson started with two key physics videos. I didn’t do much talking around these videos, just let them sink in. One class asked a question or made a comment which prompted me to point out that water is the natural domain of the duck, just as thinking is the natural domain of the human. From → Uncategorized. Physics teacher and lifting coach keeping track of random thoughts. October 17, 2012. I also know that I’m entirely uninterested in that outcome. Yes I can train students to be reliable calculators, but what’s the point? Where’s the learning value in doing the same thing over and over again. 53% of the benefit of doing physics is in tuning the brain into a lean mean problem solving system grokking machine. Rote plug and chug misses this completely. From → Uncategorized. Larr; Today’s lesson. Teach Brian&...
To the elevator! | Physics and Barbells
https://physicsandbarbells.wordpress.com/2013/01/03/to-the-elevator
Physics teacher and lifting coach keeping track of random thoughts. January 3, 2013. Student W: Hey Dr. B. Are we doing a lab today? Me: Hadn’t really planned on it, but I guess if you guys have a great idea, then that’s cool. Let’s get scales and measure the speed of the elevator! I’ve always wanted to do that! Enterprising Student J hopped on the phone to the elevator manufacturer rattled off the model number and proudly reported that they’re designed for 1m/s. Science! From → Uncategorized.
About | Physics and Barbells
https://physicsandbarbells.wordpress.com/about
Physics teacher and lifting coach keeping track of random thoughts. Among other things grad school taught me that I enjoy teaching a whole lot more than I enjoyed making the number of physics papers published go up by 1. Here I am a few years later moving into my third year of high school teaching. I teach regular physics, honors physics, and AP physics C. In the winter I coach strength and conditioning. There’s more overlap than you’d think. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
Self study: Money meet mouth | Physics and Barbells

Physics teacher and lifting coach keeping track of random thoughts. Self study: Money meet mouth. January 2, 2013. I land in Turkey in 47 days. I know three words of Turkish. Tool gathering has begun. For tips, guidance and advice. The main lessons I’ve pulled from this blog are to tackle the hard parts, avoid my comfort zones, and stick to bite sized chunks. On meeting a new language. Shrug For now I’m just a happy little learner. I picked up an intro Pimsleur Turkish. From → Uncategorized.

Effort vs Luck – Physics! Blog!
https://kellyoshea.wordpress.com/2011/10/10/effort-vs-luck
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. – Samuel Beckett. Now that we are out of September, my students have enough work to do outside of class that I don’t need to assign any specific homework. Still, this view of in-class and out-of-class work is a huge paradigm shift for my students. Do they still have physics homework if there’s never anything “due” or that needs to be turned in the next day? When and how should they work on physics outside of class? In both of these c...

Physics teacher and lifting coach keeping track of random thoughts. Just give them the grade they earn. January 8, 2013. Can I possibly find out? I was talking with another teacher the other day, lamenting some weaker performances I’m seeing and pondering over proverbial eggnog how best to get these kids moving in the right direction. “Just fail them, they’ll get the message.” What message? The message that they can’t physics and should throw in the towel? I read Carol Dweck’s Mindset. January 3, 2013.

This repo contains fun physics simulations. Hey there. This repo contains simple and funny physics projects. We will share the solutions as well as the implementations. If you have any suggestions. Double Pendulum in less than 100 lines of JavaScript. The Double Pendulum is a simple yet rich physical system. The motion of the pendulums is governed by a pair of coupled differential equations, which we will solve using the Euler method. View project on GitHub.

Physics and Buddhism
This is a blog written by Ng Xin Zhao, a practicing Buddhist with a undergrad degree in Physics. Any post here are mainly my views and the truth of the things here will have to be investigated by the readers too. Don't just believe, investigate. Monday, April 11, 2016. Infinite beings according to buddhism. There is a few logical conclusion one can obtain from the Buddhist sutras. One of them is that there is infinite amount of sentient beings in Buddhism. Here is how we can arrive at this conclusion.
