Pomegranate Heart: This is it.
http://pomheart.blogspot.com/2011/05/this-is-it.html
Friday, May 20, 2011. One of the fundamentals of mindfulness practice is non-judgment. The broader meaning is that when I meditate, I do not need to analyze, categorize, interpret or assess my experience. I just need to experience. It, be aware. Doesn’t matter. That’s the past. What matters is what I do NOW. I’ve been re-centering a bit by reading Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Wherever You Go, There You Are. Of the fact that you’ve stopped and are breathing. So here we are. Again. This is it. June 7, 2013 at 7:45 PM.
Pomegranate Heart: Spring Vascillations
http://pomheart.blogspot.com/2012/03/spring-vascillations.html
Tuesday, March 6, 2012. It always amazes me how the Universe works to weave threads together into just the tapestry we need. I’ve been re-reading some poetry by W. B. Yeats lately, and once again, I came across my favorite Yeats’ poem, “Vascillation.” It’s a long poem, but there are two stanzas I especially love:. My fiftieth year had come and gone,. I sat, a solitary man,. In a crowded London shop,. An open book and empty cup. On the marble table-top. While on the shop and street I gazed. I like to thin...
Pomegranate Heart: Insights, observations, discoveries...
http://pomheart.blogspot.com/2011/03/insights-observations-discoveries.html
Friday, March 18, 2011. Insights, observations, discoveries. I look out the window and notice the trees—rooted, still, and breathing. Meditation isn’t really concentration; it’s concentrated noticing. In a single sitting meditation, I must still rein in the wild horse—my thoughts—a bazillion times. There’s a community of folks who gather for meditation, yoga, bellydancing and more, less than an hour away! It’s the Butterfly Rainbow Center. I need to time my paper-grading around these….
Pomegranate Heart: The Color of Light
http://pomheart.blogspot.com/2011/02/color-of-light.html
Wednesday, February 2, 2011. The Color of Light. The most wonderful thing about the experience, something that occurred to me much later that day, was that I simply noticed it…I was aware of it…I didn’t THINK. About it. I felt warmth, appreciation, maybe even joy just to BE in the light. I let it wash over me. But I kept my focus on the breath. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow PomHeart by Email! Pomegranate Heart: Wild Horse Mind
http://pomheart.blogspot.com/2011/11/wild-horse-mind.html
Wednesday, November 2, 2011. It feels like this:. The candles should be further back. The shadows on the crystal lotus make it look like an Area 51 alien. Trees Druids. Did Druids meditate? I should think about not thinking. Venison roast and fingerling potatoes for dinner? The dog’s breathing is more settled than mine. He meditates. He doesn’t have to TRY. Shoes in the dryer. Tympani. Do I still have those blue socks? November 4, 2011 at 12:33 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Pomegranate Heart
Thursday, March 7, 2013. Okay, I got a little sidetracked. I had a small ischemic stroke last October, and it’s taken me a bit to let my brain and body settle. But I was reminded again recently of the numerous benefits of mindfulness meditation ( http:/ www.apa.org/monitor/2012/07-08/ce-corner.aspx. So gratefully, I went back to my cushion. Before the stroke, meditation was a challenge for my hyper-busy brain (. Don’t think about your breath. Incense smoke is like breath. Trees blowing are like b. For no...
