Poodle Days and Starry Knits: July 2010

http://poodlestar.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 26, 2010. Because this just needs to be shared. I found this in the used book basement at the store my knitting group meets at this weekend. I give you, a Prince William paper doll book from 1983: "The Royal Baby.". HRH on his diaper! Oh, yes, we want to remember those "good old days" of the British empire, don't we? Mummy doesn't like blood sports, but Daddy knows what's best for men.". Friday, July 16, 2010. Pattern: Waves of Leaves shawl. By Malcolm and Marcus Designs. It's a great patter...

Poodle Days and Starry Knits: September 2010

http://poodlestar.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 23, 2010. There's always more sock yarn waiting to be knit. Pattern: Uzume, by Monkey Toes. Yarn: Claudia's Hand Painted Fingering in Purple Earth (about 1.5 skeins) on US 1.5 needles. These were actually a pretty fast knit, and even I memorized the pattern before the end of the first sock, which made it even faster. Here's a detail of the stitch pattern. It would look better in a non variegated yarn, but you can still see the little loops the stitches make. Friday, September 17, 2010.

Poodle Days and Starry Knits: off to the Bazaar

http://poodlestar.blogspot.com/2010/12/off-to-bazaar.html

Monday, December 06, 2010. Off to the Bazaar. For the last few years I've spent an hour in line outside the Cyclorama one Sunday in December waiting for the Bazaar Bizarre. To open. This year was no exception. It's an alternative craft fair but, really, there's something for everyone. Here are some of the things I enjoyed looking at this year. Hedgehog bags from slaPPhaPPie. Matrioshka pillow from Hambone and Jennicakes. Adorable stuffed creatures and hoodies with furry linings and horns from Diane Koss.

Poodle Days and Starry Knits: April 2010

http://poodlestar.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 26, 2010. This weekend was the annual Sheep Shearing Festival at Gore Place. Sheep herding and dogs! Always a fun day, with the critters and the crafts. Tuesday, April 06, 2010. Thanks to amazingly speedy service by the USPS and the Royal Mail, you're seeing this a lot sooner than expected! The baby parade continues with Lizzie, who is due early next month. For this little one- who we've been told will be a girl- I made these goodies:. See, right side:. Pattern: On the sunny side. I am a 30...

Poodle Days and Starry Knits: April 2011

http://poodlestar.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 22, 2011. My friends are reproducing like crazy, so I've been doing quite a bit of baby knitting. I even suppressed my dislike of colorwork for a whole sixteen rows to knit this! Pattern: Fly Away Home. Yarn: Vanna's Choice in red and black on US 7 needles. And for the daughter of an old astro friend from college, I felt this was necessary. Pattern: Stars, from Susan B. Anderson's Itty Bitty Hats. Tiny hats for tiny heads! Friday, April 15, 2011. This is the sweater that never ends. And a y...

Hey, knitsmiths -. Return to the knitsmithy. While I was away, Alexis finished more fabulous Dr. Who-style dudes. You remember Alexis' Dr. Who dudes, right. Well now she's made some characters from Torchwood. Details on just who these two handsome fellows (Jack and Ianto) are can be found on her blog. Along with them in some pretty compromising pictures! In a couple of weeks, Alexis turned this rather funny looking tube (love the decreases tho! Into this super cute little elephant! It's Dr. Who (the ...

Hey, knitsmiths -. Return to the knitsmithy. While I was gone, the Knitsmiths said good-bye to Ariel. Who moved back out west. Since we were always making jokes with Ariel about how much we and she love cheese, we had a cheese party for her on her last day. Good luck, Ariel! Just call us the socksmiths:. Ariel Socks. Two at a time. Magic Loop. Seems like all my Ariel pictures look the same. Except she's got a new pair on the needle every week. This week, it was rpm socks. Sock on, Ariel! I managed to hol...

Knit City: September 2007

http://knitcity.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, 30 September 2007. Sadly, the camera is down for my weekly post, but I dare not wait to post, lest I fail to meet the SP11 four posts a month requirement. I'm actually a bit worried that I have to try so hard to make four a month. It's been a very slow week, as my wrist started hurting a bit last weekend. And kept hurting. I tried doing a row or two a night on Trapeze, but couldn't manage any more than that. I couldn't even mark my students' papers! Sunday, 23 September 2007. Anyways, John Lewis&...

Knit City: July 2007

http://knitcity.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 24 July 2007. I am, it must be said, very bored of wisp. The pattern is dreadfully easy, with no stitch more complicated than k2tog, but the fact that it is lace ensures that it still requires too much of my attention. Straight tv knitting is out, it seems. And every time we headed into town, or to the pub or cafe, I had to pass by it. I resisted as long as I could, but I am only so strong. Eventually, I gave in and let myself be seduced by 10 skeins bright red Artesano Alpaca (a much bo...With ...

Knit City: April 2007

Monday, 30 April 2007. Secret Pal Contest: Oldest Yarn in Your Stash. To be fair, I've only been knitting for five months, so my stash doesn't have much of a history. Even so, as sad yarn goes, this one is a doozy. Isn't she a beauty, in all her salmon pink glory? Thrilled with my success, I ran out to my tiny local crafts shop. This shop only carries acrylics, but I didn't even know what that meant at the time. It was yarn! That was good enough, right? Labels: secret pal 10. Thursday, 26 April 2007.

Knit City: December 2007

http://knitcity.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, 30 December 2007. Final FOs of 2007. I got my knitting mojo back at the last minute this holiday season and cranked out a few last minute gifts. Up first is Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's one row scarf. Knit in the familiar Noro Kureyon, colourway 157. I think I finally accepted that it was going to be a long time before I bought the 14 additional skeins necessary for a Lizard Ridge. Maybe I'll get back to that.sometime in 2009. Skeins: 2 a bit of a third. Needle Size: 4.5mm. Strangely, my mom also has...

Knit City: June 2007

http://knitcity.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 30 June 2007. Today, there were two things working overtime to keep me inside and knitting all day. Firstly, it was wet and raining pretty much from sunup to sundown. Secondly, at 11:00 am, my cats came to sit with me in bed (I was already up and about! The ends still have to be woven in and it needs to be washed and blocked and then have a yet-to-be-purchased ribbon threaded through it, but the knitting part is done! In the meantime, I have no projects. 1 Everyday(ish) yarn I would most like t...

Knit City: August 2007

http://knitcity.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 22 August 2007. Secret Pal 11: Contest #1. Sometimes, I think the best part of the Secret Pal exchange is the way we are given writing prompts for those days (er, weeks, months.) when I can't be bothered to photograph FOs. For the first contest, we were asked the following questions:. 1 What is the one knitting accessory you could not live without? 2 If you're heading on vacation, do you take knitting with you? So, how much and what type of project? Do you own it? For basic instructions, I sti...

Poodle Days and Starry Knits

Thursday, August 18, 2011. Oh yeah, this blog. Things went a little haywire life-wise earlier this year so a lot got neglected. Including my knitting and crafting, and this blog. But I'll give it a try again if anyone's still hanging around and reading. My get-back-into-knitting project was something I had seen Alison. Working on and wanted to make myself. Pattern: Cha Cha Ruffle Scarf. Yarn: Trendsetter Cha Cha (1 skein) on US 10 needles. It went really quickly. Now on to other projects! Pucker up, baby.
