Rambling Mole: Allotment before the rain comes.
http://ramblingmole.blogspot.com/2012/04/allotment-before-rain-comes.html
Tuesday, 24 April 2012. Allotment before the rain comes. The forecast suggests that in the next five days we will get a month's rain. They don't seem to say what month though. August would be good! But I suspect not as it amounts to about 60mm or 2.3 inches in English. Having cut Granddad's grass today as well has planted his row of Alderman peas, I decided it was time to do mine. Apart from that I also managed to find time to pick our first radishes of the season. Now to hope the forecasters are wrong.

Rambling Mole: June 2012
http://ramblingmole.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 12 June 2012. Sunday afternoon we were offered another piece of allotment. Truth is we did ask and have been watching a few, but this is one we would rather it not have been. Why? So yesterday I took a couple of hours to make a start and get the weed cleared and some digging done. Unfortunately rain came in before I got very far but, leaving a path (a sort of zone to prevent disputes really) I started. and although I didn't get very far through the heap of weeds grew rapidly. I once read somewhe...

Rambling Mole: May 2011
http://ramblingmole.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Monday, 9 May 2011. I have been trying to concentrate on building a lean-to greenhouse for the allotment to go against the shed, the trouble is that with digging, planting and weed control there just aren't enough hours in the day! Because of this everything needs netting, which is a bit of a nuisance but occasionally we find pigeon feathers scattered around so we know that the resident fox family has been at work, although it may be the friendly buzzards. Rambling Mole: July 2011
http://ramblingmole.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 29 July 2011. Too busy to list on twitter! The shopping bag is runner beans - freezer bound for most of them. Lots more to pick. The Peas include some of the first Alderman peas, which are looking very good this year. The blackberries are an incidental and while we have to keep clipping them back off the allotment, they do border two sides so there's lots to come - and they are OURS! And our first runner beans from the allotment - Painted Ladies. We are getting a good crop in our first year.

Rambling Mole: January 2012

Tuesday, 31 January 2012. So what has this to do with technology? Well tonight I drove 15 miles, pressed 1 button twice and then returned home! It says 'no signal' " I was told. I couldn't believe that the transmitter was out so went expecting it to be a usage problem. I wasn't wrong - he had caught a button that had switched the TV to AVC1 and off the aerial. So why couldn't he fix it himself? It would be so easy to:-. After power off ALWAYS bring the set back to the aerial. All of the above. In spring ...

Rambling Mole: October 2011
http://ramblingmole.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 26 October 2011. It's the time of year when we lift the beetroot, pull out the tomatoes and beans and start digging the weed out and so it feels like the end of the season. It's a time that invokes a degree on melancholia as we think of another season over. It's our first season on the allotment and how did it go? I suppose better than it could have but not as good as I would have liked. So let's talk detail. Some quite good ones but these suffered quite a set back because of birds. As did.

Rambling Mole: March 2012

Friday, 30 March 2012. Hard Work On The Plot. It's been a busy week on the allotment and I have planted both the Charlotte and Kestrel early potatoes. But I've also finished on the outside of the lean-to and been digging ready for more planting. This photo is particularly interesting as it show The Worker (me) in the background removing weed and digging, while here in the foreground is the boot (at rest) of my wife and my helpless mate looks on! Ah well, it's a hard life for some. Wednesday, 21 March 2012.

Friday, 17 June 2011. With every fork full the plot gets smaller. This section is made of four sections each of six feet wide (about) and it was made from one panel. I have taken a second one to pieces ready to do the next section and this will finish this run. I now have to dream up a way to use the other 3 panels! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Rambling Mole: February 2012
http://ramblingmole.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Monday, 13 February 2012. Elevenish" "OK, we'll call before then". Saturday morning and the phone goes. It's Grandma. "Are you coming over? Well Granddad is NOT senile in anyway at all so what was this about? What are you coming over for? I explained and was there anything they needed. "No". I relayed this rather weird phone call to Wifey. "They want us to take them shopping, I'll bet". We arrive and Wifey asks them "Do you want us to take you shopping? Second Only Child had insisted we keep Dylan in the...
