Pure Tinctoria: Reduce Your Carbon Footprint - spin, weave and dye your own clothes!

http://puretinctoriadyer.blogspot.com/2012/04/heres-another-great-video-this-time.html

Notes from the sketchbooks and archives of a dyer and her friends. Thursday, 12 April 2012. Reduce Your Carbon Footprint - spin, weave and dye your own clothes! Heres another great video, this time about harvesting the humble nettle, like flax, and making your own clothes with it. I was so inspired I bought the book off Amazon. And am reading it as I write! It's so interesting and a must read for anyone who is half way into sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint. Posted by Alison Daykin.

Pure Tinctoria: Wonderwool Wales 1

http://puretinctoriadyer.blogspot.com/2013/05/wonderwool-wales-1.html

Notes from the sketchbooks and archives of a dyer and her friends. Thursday, 2 May 2013. Lorraine and I had a lovely time at Wonderwool Wales this year. There was a real buzz about the show on both days and Saturday seemed the busiest we'd ever seen. Although we didn't win best stand, we had some lovely comments from visitors including:. This is our favourite stand, the colours are so lovely.". Explaining about measures and spoons. This plastic glass holds 100ml up to the bottom line.". Dyes with a Heart.

Pure Tinctoria: Wonderwool Wales 2

http://puretinctoriadyer.blogspot.com/2013/05/wonderwool-wales-2.html

Notes from the sketchbooks and archives of a dyer and her friends. Thursday, 2 May 2013. During this years show I did a number of demonstrations on dyeing with extracts using the "All-in-One" dyeing method. The first demo on each day was painting tops and hanks and could also be used on warps. On Saturday I "painted" two 50g bumps of Blue Face Leicester tops and one 100g hank of Blue Faced Leicester lace weight yarn with Lodhra Bark and Kamala. Left: Two Baths Right: Injection Dyed. How the hanks look!

Pure Tinctoria: October 2011

http://puretinctoriadyer.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Notes from the sketchbooks and archives of a dyer and her friends. Thursday, 13 October 2011. Colour Palette of the Month - October! While I was looking through my image collection for this months inspiration I came across this image which was "snapped" in August, when we were exploring out new area. During a walk we came across an old tree that had been blown over in the wind and in the hole where the roots had been a lot of bracket fungi were growing. What do you all think? Colouring from Nature: September 2011

http://doespins2.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Adding colour from natural pigments one skein at a time. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Colouring the long way. If you've followed my other blog http:/ doespins.blogspot.com/. You'll know that as a long time spinner, dyer, weaver, crocheter etc that I have dyed many of my yarns with both synthetic dyes and natural dyes. I have decided to create a new second blog celebrating these dyes and my journey with them. My mordant of choice now like many dyers is alum although I do use copper sulphate occassionally.

Colouring from Nature: October 2011

http://doespins2.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Adding colour from natural pigments one skein at a time. Friday, October 21, 2011. So last week I had a sort out of a few yarns that I dyed previously with exhaust cochineal and also soaked the pre mordanted yarns I prepared earlier (a few weeks ago with alum). Most of it is alpaca or alpaca blends. I rinsed the skeins thoroughly. They are hanging outside my dye shed to dry. The extracts I used were logwood from Renaissance Dyeing. Overdyeing pale cochineal and teal. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I live 20...
