rachel on rewind

We all have a story to tell. Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Our first holiday season of married life brought about a lot of discussion: how are we going to celebrate the holidays? It’s a scary discussion for some, especially when family traditions run deep and pressure from both sides of the family can weigh in as you’re trying to decide what to do. Ultimately, we just had to recognize that the holidays from both our viewpoints were going to look different- -and that was okay- -because we were married now.

We all have a story to tell. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The Artist's Daughter: A Memoir (a book review). There is nothing that fascinates me more than when someone is willing to share their story with vulnerability, grace and humility. Alexandra Kuykendall's memoir,. Kuykendall honestly shares the journey of growing up without a father and how that impacts her stages in life: childhood, marriage and motherhood. Throughout the book, she tackles three life-defining questions: Am I lovable? MOPS International h...

http://rachelonrewind.blogspot.com/2013/09/longing-for-dirty-hands.html

We all have a story to tell. Monday, September 23, 2013. Longing for dirty hands. I recently plunged my hand into a toilet that contained my child’s poop, while simultaneously using my other hand to stop another child from flushing the toilet…all in the name of saving our plumbing from the matchbox cars that had been dropped into the toilet (on accident) by the over-eager toilet flusher. I’m just lucky baby #3 was safely tucked in her crib during the madness. I look ridiculous and I sound like a fool.

We all have a story to tell. Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Praying God's Word for Your Life: A book review. Recently I had the opportunity to review Kathi Lipp’s most recent book,. 8220;Praying God’s Word for Your Life.”. This is the first time I have read one of Kathi’s books, though I have heard nothing but great things about her! I’ll be honest, I generally steer clear from books that seem to border too much on the “how to” side of things. My current prayer life is a struggle. What I appreciated most is that...

We all have a story to tell. Tuesday, July 24, 2012. We are nesting again. I’m a planner. You likely wouldn’t assume this about me if you spent the day in my home and felt the level of disorganization going on that I have felt recently, but, I am a planner. In my two pregnancies I managed to “nest” almost the entire duration. There were needs to anticipate, closets to organize, things to label, walls to be washed and laundry room floors that needed to be mopped….again and again. I’m nesting again. Here I...

Curly By Nature: Why corn syrup granola bars are ok with me....

http://curlybynature.blogspot.com/2014/09/why-corn-syrup-granola-bars-are-ok-with.html

Friday, September 12, 2014. Why corn syrup granola bars are ok with me. This was my third attempt at homemade granola bars (my third recipe, I should say, I tried on recipe several times). It ended like they all do - in absolute failure. Back to Sams for that bulk box of Quaker chewy granola bars! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Curly By Nature: Mood Hairs

http://curlybynature.blogspot.com/2014/08/mood-hairs.html

Tuesday, August 19, 2014. We had probably passed her and didn't even know it, because we were looking for a blonde, but was she blonde that day? But, yeah, no hair tool talent. Mr Curly prefers me to grow it out, which I've been trying for over a year now. It gets SO HOT. Last week in a fit of frustration I went to the bathroom and hacked some bangs in just to keep it off my face! Thankfully, they look alright, and blend nicely when I want them to. So I impulsively tried Pepper Potts red hair. Plus, I al...

Curly By Nature: Understanding Historical Perspective

http://curlybynature.blogspot.com/2014/09/understanding-historical-perspective.html

Thursday, September 11, 2014. Such an intriguing title, isn't it? Sounds boring, I know, but stick with me here. I'm sure a million bloggers will blog about 9/11 today. Its been all over Facebook. But I had a new thought about it today - well, new for me. I was indignant. How dare they read over something so monumental as the attacks on 9/11 like it wasn't important? I remember that day! Do they feel glossed over? But I'm going to work on that. Because nobody should be made to feel that a major trage...

M and Em's Connection: A Vision in Violet--16 Months

http://m-and-emsconnection.blogspot.com/2012/02/vision-in-violet-16-months.html

Thursday, February 23, 2012. A Vision in Violet- 16 Months. For Christmas, my Aunt Janet and Uncle Tom gave Clara the cuuuutest little purple outfit. Thought I'd post a few pictures so they can see her as a 'vision in violet'. :). This little peanut is 16 months already! And finally starting to say words here in there; 'hat', 'hot', 'cup', and 'more' are a few. When Mark gets home at the end of the day she's simply the sweetest, whispering 'dadadada'. It gets her sooo excited! She looks good in purple!

Curly By Nature: Why I Follow....

http://curlybynature.blogspot.com/2014/08/why-i-follow.html

Monday, August 25, 2014. My best friend since I was 8, Miss CD, challenged me via Facebook (so this will be shared there as well), to explain why I love Jesus. It could be very simple - pastor's daughter, pastor's wife, grew up in the church. But that's kind of the easy way out. So hold on, because this will be a bit of a read. Got your coffee (or, you know, pepsi)? Ok, let's go. So am I). Controlling. Check. Loyal and hovering and scared of failure? Check, check, check. I get that. I get being to th...

Progress in the making…. Accomplishing the list one day at a time. July 2, 2012 in Uncategorized. J and I were driving back from a day in Denver on Saturday, June 23rd. We were about 40 minutes away when we began seeing a smoke cloud. We saw people’s Facebook posts that a wildfire had begun in Waldo Canyon, close to Colorado Springs. I took this picture when we were about 20 minutes from home, around 4:45pm. Leaving the dentist, I could see that smoke was very dark on the west side, where we lived. I...

Satisfaction Saturday: MENU #2 (I hate cod). Our menu this week is a nice mix of old favorites and new recipes. I am pretty creative in the kitchen and don’t always need a recipe to fall back on but absolutely enjoy trying new things and over time taking a recipe and making my own little edits to come up with something that suits us. I am not the pickiest eater ever but I do have a few things on my NO list and today I added another. Cod. UGH! Hearty and Healthy Beef Stew with Zucchini Noodles. Chex &#822...
