The Radio Record Hop Blog! Friday, April 14, 2006. How did this whole DJ thing start? Nightclubs and discotheques continued to grow into the mid-1960's. However, by 1968, the number of dance clubs started to decline. In 1969, Francis Grasso (though not the inventor of the beat-mix) popularized beat-matching for an extended period of time at New York's Sanctuary nightclub. That same year, most American discos either closed or were transformed into clubs featuring live bands. Thursday, April 13, 2006.

The Radio Record Hop Blog! Friday, March 24, 2006. Over the years there have been a number of movies that started large trends in music. The Urban Cowboy was released in 1980 and so began the "new" craze in country music. The setting for the movie was Gilley's Nightclub. We all enjoyed seeing John Travolta and Debra Winger do the Cotton Eyed Joe and Texas Two-Step. Of course Debra Winger's sexy bull riding stole the show. Some great songs came out of this movie, many of which remain top dance tunes:.

The Radio Record Hop Blog! Friday, March 31, 2006. Where, oh where should I put my DJ. One of the challanges that often presents itself at a dance is the location for the DJ. Some halls have set themselves up the right way, others are very wrong. Take for example one place, where the dance floor was in the middle of the room, and the stage for the DJ/band was in a far corner, with tables all around the dance floor. The Radio Record Hop Blog! Friday, April 07, 2006. What’s In A Name? Our DJ service is called Radio Record Hop. Of course there’s a story behind the name. When we began in the mid 80’s, Ernie was the evening DJ on WEMP AM 1250. This was an oldie station. That’s where the RADIO. We added the HOP. To our name because that is a slang expression for dancing to oldies music. Even from the very beginning, we have played all styles of music, so hop is a bit of a misnomer. The Radio Record Hop Blog! Friday, May 12, 2006. Now, a bit about why we don’t use a computer to play our music. We know that there are several other DJ’s that come into a dance, perhaps set up a few lights and then on the stand they put a laptop, maybe two and after running a few wires, they start the show. Everyone once in a while someone will ask one of us if we play our music from the laptop we have on the stand, or just from a laptop. Radio Record Hop is proud to be Southeast Wisconsin's most profes...

The Radio Record Hop Blog! Sunday, June 25, 2006. We just finished up a very busy weekend at Radio Record Hop. We participated in an event called Badger Bash. A weekend long gathering of Girl and Boy Scout Troops from all over Wisconsin and northern Illinois. If you asked Ernie or Tim, you would have heard DJ. Yes, really. Early signs of their leaning toward the profession are quite evident. You can visit is on-line at www.radiorecordhop.com. The Radio Record Hop Blog! Tuesday, September 19, 2006. Where Did Summer Go? I'm sure we all started the summer with lofty goals and plans. We were going to spend more time working on the yard, more time exercising to get in shape and more time relaxing with the family. Did we do these things? We probably pretty much did what we always do and the time flew by faster than ever. Posted by Radio Record Hop at 4:55 PM. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. View my complete profile.
