Monday, January 25, 2010. FEENING FOR SOME CHOCOLATE. I get a gold star! Now, a horror story for your enjoyment (or terror, depending on how you feel about chocolate:). Once upon a time, I was at work (just last Friday night) and I was feening for some chocolate. I mean FEENING. If someone had said, "Here's some chocolate, but you will have to hand over your firstborn child to claim it," I would have been strongly tempted to make a decision. Let me just say, it wasn't looking good for the firstborn.

On Sunday, September 14th the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew across the mid-west and right through good 'ol Owensboro, Kentucky! We had sustained 50-90 mph winds for 2 hours and the pix below show the aftermath. We were without power for 25 hours and we have family members who were without power for 3-4 days. The power still hasn't been restored to all parts of the city. Sep 3, 2008.

They laid-off 45 people total but I guess were stellar workers because we were the last two people hired and we still survived the cut! And, it's even better! We have switched to four 12 hour shifts a week instead of the normal five day, 8 hour shifts. So not only did we get to keep our jobs but now we get a three day weekend EVERY week AND 8 hours of overtime EACH! To say that we feel truly blessed would be a major understatement!
