Is the Holy Spirit like a Dove or a Wild Goose? | New Beginnings
https://reverendrachel.wordpress.com/2015/04/10/is-the-holy-spirit-like-a-dove-or-a-wild-goose
Musings on marriage and ministry. Is the Holy Spirit like a Dove or a Wild Goose? April 10, 2015. A caveat as I begin: Scripturally speaking, it is true to speak of the Holy Spirit as a dove. After all, the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus during his baptism “in the form of a dove” (cf. Mark 1:10). I ask the title question in order to explore the metaphor in today's context (specifically, my context as a young(er) female Presbyterian pastor in a suburb of Houston). Chasing the Wild Goose. We need an untama...
Fasting Fridays – When What is Harmless Keeps Us from God | New Beginnings

Musings on marriage and ministry. Fasting Fridays – When What is Harmless Keeps Us from God. February 26, 2015. I hope, over the six weeks of Lent, to offer different angles and views on the spiritual practice of fasting. The primary definition of fasting with which we are working is this: We give up a legitimate need in order to experience our real need for Jesus. But there is so much more to be pondered regarding fasting! A church member passed along excerpts from Dallas Willard’s book,. So, I stay awa...
Fasting Fridays | New Beginnings
https://reverendrachel.wordpress.com/2015/02/20/fasting-fridays
Musings on marriage and ministry. February 20, 2015. Lent is an opportunity – an opportunity to practice different life rhythms to tune us better to the work of God in our lives and world. My congregation’s adult discipleship team thought this particular season of Lent provided an opportunity to practice a spiritual discipline together – a life rhythm that may be unfamiliar to many of us, but one that grows us in spiritual maturity. That discipline is fasting. This tells me that there is probably more to...
“We aren’t as Christian as we used to be” | New Beginnings
https://reverendrachel.wordpress.com/2015/05/15/we-arent-as-christian-as-we-used-to-be
Musings on marriage and ministry. 8220;We aren’t as Christian as we used to be”. May 15, 2015. The Pew Research Center released a study this week on “ America’s Changing Religious Landscape. To be active because they have had an experience of God or have made the conscious choice to follow Jesus (to use Christian lingo…I am a Presbyterian pastor after all…). However, the news stories I read and heard offered insight and observations beyond my musings. I commend to you the hour the Diane Rehm show. Plus, ...
Fasting Fridays – Resisting the need to “feel good” | New Beginnings
https://reverendrachel.wordpress.com/2015/03/05/fasting-fridays-resisting-the-need-to-feel-good
Musings on marriage and ministry. Fasting Fridays – Resisting the need to “feel good”. March 5, 2015. Tomorrow I will make my third try at a Lenten media fast. For the first time, I think I may actually not turn on media! I’m blogging early; I’ve let people know I won’t be checking email. And yet, I wonder how comfortable I will feel not having any excuse to access my phone or turn on the radio or television tomorrow. I continue to read Dallas Willard’s. The Spirit of the Disciplines. I’ve schedule...

The Simmons Family: July 2014
http://jaredandcarissasimmons.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
The power of love is a curious thing". Tuesday, July 29, 2014. You guys. I seriously cannot get over how scrumptious my niece is. I can't handle it! Monday, July 28, 2014. Last week, Jared took a day off work just for fun. We decided to take my mom to El Jardin Beach for the morning. It's not the best beach, but it has small waves and is never crowded - that makes it a great beach for Jack. It was super hot so we didn't last long, but we still had a nice time. Here are a few pics from our time there.

The Simmons Family: Jack's Haircut
http://jaredandcarissasimmons.blogspot.com/2015/03/jack-haircut.html
The power of love is a curious thing". Monday, March 16, 2015. This was Jack's 3rd haircut, but the first he sat through without screaming or trying to get away. I am pretty sure it was the sucker that did the trick. Why didn't we think of that before? Right now, when I brush his hair, he immediately runs his hands through his hair and says, "Don't brush my hair, Mom. I don't like it brushed." So basically, his hair looks super cute for 5 seconds each day. Oh lord, this kid is 100% boy! Story Time with J...

The power of love is a curious thing". Wednesday, March 4, 2015. I made some play-dough for Jack, and added lavender essential oil because I heard it can have calming effects. I probably should have used the whole bottle for it to have a calming effect on Jack though. Ha! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Let us know; let us press on. Posted in Uncategorized on August 5, 2009 by rpbunge. A kaleidoscopic genre-bending festival of rock and roll butchery. The themes were often moronic, filled with toilet humor, and always politically incorrect and satirical. The Reverend Poky Bunge Band Rock and Roll Show WAS! An exiting, colorful, sometimes disturbing, and always entertaining thing to behold! With vulgar themes, it was not for the easily offfended and was intended to isolate it’s audience. A Song in the Making
A Song in the Making. Thursday, November 17, 2011. Camp to Coker, Part 1. I like blankets. And couches. I also like living with friends who are rather decent musicians, to say the least. While utilizing both a blanket and a couch, I'm listening to Stafford play guitar riffs and progressions, and I'm reorganizing this blog. We'll see how the changes last. Monday, July 4, 2011.
