We grow our own food primarily as a hobby. It is a great way to feed our family better quality meals and at the same time teach our children where food really comes from. Our garden is about 72' x 46' with 13 long mounded rows. We grow a variety of produce such as tomatoes, onions, peas, squash and lots more. 8226; BAKING and CANNING. Saturday, February 23, 2013. Great Backyard Bird Count 2012. Once again another weekend of crummy weather for The Great Backyard Bird Count. I had plans to visit a Wetlands Preserve, but that didn't work out. So, I only spotted birds around the house and I didn't get too adventurous with finding them. I just didn't feel much like hiking around in the cold, wet weather to search for birds. I wasn't completely skunked, though. There's always a few birds around. Here's what I did see:. The door on the Rhode Island Red coop got left open one day and the chickens, of course, got out. They didn't care that it was pouring down rain. They were just happy to be free. Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Around this time last year. Farmer John was busy finishing the greenhouse and setting up our aquaponics system. At the very end of May, the system was up and running enough to add 50 teeny tiny tilapia. Since then it has been a learning experience.
