Here's The Thing!

Random thoughts about the good, the bad, and the huh? Thursday, December 20, 2012. One of Those Days. I started a post on December 10th. About the evening of November 28. Blogging is not at the top of my priorities as you can see. However, since the tragedy (though tragedy may not be a strong enough word, nor is devastation, gut wrenching, or piercing) at Sandy Hook this evening is even more meaningful to me. I hope they had moments that will sustain them a lifetime. For as long as I can remember, my fat...

Here's The Thing!: October 2012

http://www.robinbrandis.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Random thoughts about the good, the bad, and the huh? Monday, October 29, 2012. As I sit in my cozy home, in my cozy bed, my heart aches. If only everyone else were in a similar setting. Tonight I attended the visitation of a long time family friend. Her son, who was 50 something, was murdered last week. By his wife of 27 years. There's more to the story, but I have problems accepting this death. He was a good man, who worked hard. He leaves behind his wife, sitting in a cell and his mother. The annals a...

Here's The Thing!: Summer "School"

http://www.robinbrandis.blogspot.com/2012/06/summer-school.html

Random thoughts about the good, the bad, and the huh? Thursday, June 28, 2012. As an educator, I strive to continue to be a life long learner. I have half of my master's degree completed and am spending the majority of my summer reading reading professional books, participating in a book study online and going to three days of professional development. (I mean, who does that? Of their own volition? It all adds up to NERD-but, hey, I'm owning it.). Be insulted when the KET people ask you adapt your answer...

Here's The Thing!: July 2011

http://www.robinbrandis.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Random thoughts about the good, the bad, and the huh? Monday, July 25, 2011. The Griswolds Got NOTHING On Us. So 10 years ago (exactly 10 years ago, to be precise), my family took a vacation. Or to be more detailed. They took THE VACATION TO END ALL VACATIONS. Atleast, that's how it's been described to me over the ensuing years. The Power of Positive Thinking Parent. The What'd He Say? Without missing a beat, "Only by my family.". That was my boss. She thought I'd been abducted." (Now tell me wha...We fi...

Random thoughts about the good, the bad, and the huh? Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Someone Should've Warned Me. You know, it's funny (and not in the ha ha way). I've known many a person to pass away (coming from a large extended family). And while grief is grief, and mourning is mourning, "they" say reality doesn't set in until the funeral's over and the out of town company's left. When you're left alone with a new routine. Make him write that down? One of my favorite authors. My family is learning a new rou...

the uhls family...: .first.grade.

http://theuhlsfamily.blogspot.com/2010/08/firstgrade.html

Jason, mel, riley and reed. Thursday, August 12, 2010. Well, today was the day. Today was the day our oldest walked in to first grade. And he did great. If you remember my post a year ago - man, it was t.o.u.g.h. And this year, well, pretty much the same. I revisited my journal entry that first day of Kindergarten and of course the tears just came a rolling. Not because I was upset really, but because the emotion of it all was still so fresh that I could feel it again. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

the uhls family...: what.a.week.

http://theuhlsfamily.blogspot.com/2010/08/what-week.html

Jason, mel, riley and reed. Friday, August 13, 2010. Watching your oldest walk in to 1st grade and then the very next day. Delivering a dear dear dear friend to the airport. Not just for a vacation, but for a move some 900 miles away. So, here I am. On the verge of tears at ANY minute. Wishing with all that is in me that I can take back that moment of seeing Jamie walk away. Erase the HORRIBLE heaving cries that occurred afterwards (Shannon, you know the kind! And just go back to life like it was. For ma...

http://theuhlsfamily.blogspot.com/2010/07/building-your-house-on-rock.html

Jason, mel, riley and reed. Thursday, July 22, 2010. Building your house on the rock. The boys and i were walking along the creek yesterday surveying the damage from the storm the night before. we had left some "valuables" out - not knowing that there was a storm coming through - one of those kind that make the creek swell so big and sweep with it all that has been left unsecured. Our 6 person tent. But some good things that were NOT swept away:. Riley's favorite tool (hatchet kind of thing). Thanks for ...

Jason, mel, riley and reed. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. I'm sitting in Bowling Green, visiting with my sister and her family and our mom and dad this week. It is always so fun to have a house FULL of fun, laughter and memories. I sure wouldn't trade it for anything. Sweet as can be. And mine. well, ours, but you know what I'm getting at. I think sometimes I forget to remember that God is head over heals about us, like I was just a few minutes ago seeing my sons conked out together :-). The White Family Blog.

The Brant Family Blog

The Brant Family Blog. Thursday, August 11, 2011. So, as previously established, I am the worst blogger ever. But here is a quick catch-up on what's going on with the Brant fam this summer. In early summer, we spent quite a bit of time at the zoo. Miller loves giving the Gorilla statue a hug. What a sweet boy. He also still loves feeding the giraffes. Although he did get nipped at one trip, which completely freaked him out. Luckily, he'd forgotten about it by the next time we went. Me and my little man.
