OK, I am sure that I could have bought challah, but I love making challah. I love the way that it makes my kitchen smell, and how it feels when you braid it. And youtube is filled with wonderful examples of bread braiding. I had never made challah before I baked along with the group of bakers making the breads in The Bread Baker's Apprentice.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Healthy Potato Salad - Daring Cooks. Jami Sorrento was our June Daring Cooks. We have a couple of potato salad recipes that we like, but I have been intrigued for some time by the idea of a french potato salad. French potato salad is made by boiling sliced potatoes and coating them with a dressing while the slices are still warm. I used a recipe from The New Best Recipe Cookbook. Red potatoes were sliced and boiled in salted water. And then tossed with parsley, chives and shallots.

Yes, I was in the hospital for a year last week trying to recover from some strange infection that settled in my breast (the cancer one.) IV antibiotics weren't quite doing the trick, so the aforementioned doctorsonofabitch drained the abscess and placed a drainage tube to hopefully take care of the infection. I was sent home with the drainage tube and a poor attitude, because I get that way when I hurt! Mags @ the Other Side of 50.
