The Land of the River of Shrimp: Tuesday, February 09
http://cameroonzara.blogspot.com/2010_02_09_archive.html
The Land of the River of Shrimp. Or more accurately, the Land of Mangos and Avocados. The internet is dangerous to have. I need to remind myself that it is to be used as a resource, not as a source of endless distraction. Guess which I've been doing more of! It's been cloudy and cool the last 2 days, much like Humboldt weather, which is LOVELY. Last night there was some rain on the tin roof, and I felt very relaxed. I need more art in my life. In a doing art sort of way. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My ma...

The Land of the River of Shrimp. Or more accurately, the Land of Mangos and Avocados. What's been up lately? Gosh, you have no idea, huh? It's been awhile since the last blog. Today I went to Bafoussam to get my internet back (disappeared for a week), get the key to my new post-box (write me! And to pick up a few things. I scored 2 pairs of perfect fitting pants from the frip for a reasonable price, yesss. Anyway. Here is my new address:. Tres simple, n'est-ce pas? America candy, whatevs. Yes, he says...

The Land of the River of Shrimp. Or more accurately, the Land of Mangos and Avocados. Here are some pictures from my walk, I'm too sleepy to formulate words right now. Leaving Batie. lots of eucalyptus. C'est beau. I live across from the giantest church. It was nice to see it in the sense that I knew home wasn't forever away. It still looked pretty far away though. This was carved in the embankment by the road. I'm not sure what it is. There were more faces, too, afterwards. Kinda freaky.

The Land of the River of Shrimp: Friday, August 20
http://cameroonzara.blogspot.com/2010_08_20_archive.html
The Land of the River of Shrimp. Or more accurately, the Land of Mangos and Avocados. Home again, home again, after a long week in Baham doing girls' camp. Wow! I've come home to a very lonely cat. I'm sure he'll be very sad that I'm leaving again come Sunday for another girls' camp in Bandrefam. Then my APCD left. So Saturday and Sunday were more laid back than planned, but we had fun with the peer educators and talking about what it means to be a peer educator and a woman, what is puberty, how can you ...

The Land of the River of Shrimp. Or more accurately, the Land of Mangos and Avocados. Why Leaving the Peace Corps Was the Best Decision I've Made Since Joining the Peace Corps. Well, I meant to write a wrap-up/conclusion earlier, but here it is 5 months later and I'm still looking for the words to say. It's hard to believe I left Cameroon over 5 months ago, and my stage-mates are still there for another 3 or 4 months still! What were the biggest factors contributing to my problems? For me, anyways. A...

The Land of the River of Shrimp: Sunday, May 09
http://cameroonzara.blogspot.com/2010_05_09_archive.html
The Land of the River of Shrimp. Or more accurately, the Land of Mangos and Avocados. Waking up today was much the same as everyday. I sleep in as long as possible, because it is inconceivable that there is anything more comfortable than my bed. Today, this meant getting up at 9. What a lazy bum I am! Once inside I look at the report that I have all but finished translating and realize that I have a golden opportunity to actually do some work. And I walk out the door! So I tape up my flip-charts and a li...

CLICK HERE FOR THOUSANDS OF FREE BLOGGER TEMPLATES. A short ocean away. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. So this is Christmas, and what have you done? I came back home and spent Christmas day with my post-mates and the family they share a compound with. There was some good wine (thanks Ehab) and a Christmas tree! Maybe avocados and coco yams? Oh and mom, I got a memo that your package has arrived! Saturday, December 13, 2008. Is it really December? Well, if I’m not cooking or washing clothes, I’...The views...

CLICK HERE FOR THOUSANDS OF FREE BLOGGER TEMPLATES. A short ocean away. Sunday, November 16, 2008. Chiggers and other interesting creatures. One thing I'm always amazed at is the various insects and animals I see in my backyard. Now that it's dry season, the long scary brown lizards have come out in astounding numbers. Yesterday one came in my house and Zulu (yes, Lulu is now Zulu due to a gender mishap) had a ball with it! But, it's been healing… slowly. Nothing heals quickly here. Nothing. The views an...

CLICK HERE FOR THOUSANDS OF FREE BLOGGER TEMPLATES. A short ocean away. Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Don't you have anything to say? I'm a bit ashamed that I've let my blog become a ghost blog these last few months. The end of the school year brought on lots of monotonous work and frankly, the interesting things I used to be so anxious to write about seem to be life as usual now. Keep your fingers crossed. And right after mid-service, Elliott will be here! Thanks for the pressure to update this blog. It's ...
