This course provides a wide-ranging exploration of the history and culture of German. Readings will be drawn from both primary and secondary literature. Represented in the primary reading will central figures in German-speaking Jews, including Heinrich Heine, Sigmund Freud, and Gershom Scholem. 2:00-3:15 MW Ms. Achilles.
