Also looks after the main downwind. Mainsheet and spin trim. Does the mainsheet and traveller upwind then switches to spinnaker trimming on the downwind legs,. Looks after the jib and the pit, in the pit needs to support the bow getting the kite ready, pole up and down lines, pulls through spin halyard after spin set, works with the guy to pull in the spin on drops. Looks after the guy on downwind and supports trim during tacks, helps pit pull down kite and pack. Bow makes sure halyard is ready to go.

Base Setting – Full length forestay setting, 22 on inners and 24 on outers we used this up until 16 knots. 16 knots (we were heavy crew) we would move to 24 on inners and 26 on outers. Anything more and we would not touch the inners and only move the outers to 28, that would be when we were losing the main and needed to depower slighty. April 15, 2014 at 10:12 am. 3rd Sept – Nae Wind. September 4, 2014. Bow – Andy. Pit – Colin. Main/ Helm – Steve. Cursing our decision we tacked and headed back towards the north shore and the mark. It was exceedingly slow going, probably only doing 1 – 2 knots over the ground! As we neared the mark, we had actually caught up with a lot of boats!
