From Colfax To Xela: September 2011
http://fromcolfaxtoxela.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 29, 2011. When we first got Mia while living in Guatemala, one of our friends told us we should have named her Mi Amor.Mia More.it means "my love" in Spanish. Isn't that so cute? We loved it, so it stuck but only as a nickname since her full name had special meaning to us as well - Semilla Maya, "Mayan seed" in Spanish. She was such a tiny little thing and we were lucky to have a chance to see her. Growing is what our little seed has done and just a few weeks ago she turned 2! Since w...

Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Dreams do come true! Just a couple of weeks ago, we posted about madly lusting for the sweet tastes of Fall. Well, today we can proudly say that our lusts have been fulfilled! Last weekend, we made a trip to the market where purchased the ingredients necessary for. This apple butter recipe. But I am looking forward to the day when I can make it in a crock pot, just like the recipe suggests. Crock Pot Apple Butter. 16 peeled, cored and chopped apples. 1 1/2 C white sugar.

From Colfax To Xela: Here it is.
http://fromcolfaxtoxela.blogspot.com/2011/11/here-it-is.html
Wednesday, November 9, 2011. After that permit is closed out we can officially begin the rest of the work up there. Maybe we'll even be moving in upstairs by late next spring.maybe! My real reason for writing this post however is because today is the day I am finally going to say what's been on my mind (& Ben's too - we're in agreement about all of what's to come) for. The past 1 year, 2 months and 6 days. In other words, exactly how long we've been living in Charlotte. Trying to. It's just that the ...

Wednesday, 30 May 2012. Here and Back Again. This coffee cooperative made up of Guatemalan campesinos and one very loveable, albeit pessimistic, ex-pat, continues to forge sustainable livelihoods for its members through creative agricultural practices and a variety of innovative development programs. We then travelled north to Xela where Quetzaltrekkers. Where OGG 2012 will be studying Spanish alongside an incredible group of indigenous women. But after meetings with the COCODE (Development council), on-...

Friday, January 28, 2011. Today we're back in Pennsylvania, but it's a sad trip. We're saying one last goodbye to a man that has been a constant and steady part of my life for the past thirty years, my Pa. Last friday Pa peacefully passed away, going Home to be with our Ma and so many other beloved family members that have since passed away. For thirty years you were the best Pa a girl could ask for. I've loved you always, and always will. 7171927 - 1.21.2011. Monday, January 24, 2011. Isaiah and Addie g...

Thursday, May 19, 2011. I'm working on putting together a post from our weekend trip to New Orleans, but in the mean time I wanted to share some of the spaces that have been on my mind lately and explanations why. The classic boho feel of this living space is perfectly causal and not too over decorated. Aside from the amazing floors, I can't get enough of the black and gold. The contrast of the white sofas and dark walls and rug is so fresh. I saw this painted floor thanks to Julie. I apologize for not s...

From Colfax To Xela: August 2011
http://fromcolfaxtoxela.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 26, 2011. Please forgive me. I gave myself permission to take a blog-cation to enjoy the rest of the summer with my peeps. I should have announced my decision, but I didn't really realize until a few days in and by then it felt like an after thought. Anyway, I'm back now. And I'm going to try to stay on top of this blog thing. Realistically that may only mean a couple of posts a week. A couple is better than none though, right? Thanks for your patience! Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Say cheese, Baby! This past year however, I've found myself less than inspired photographically speaking. Most of our home photos are more for documentation purposes rather than "art" and quite honestly we don't really go anywhere worth toting along the old Nikon. Recently though, I've found myself newly inspired by some seriously cute baby girls in my life! Into the most adorable Halloween project that could ever exist. This project required 4 easy things. PS Keep me in min...
