Broken Shivers: August 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2005. Why did you have a child (or more)? If it was so the child would 'do something' for you, that might be the wrong reason. :). Some children are loving accidents. A couple play around; she gets pregnant; he does the 'right thing' and they are parents. Now what? Many are planned, desired, wanted beyond measure but, when they get here, they are like little aliens. What to do with them? Some 'facts' about children. That's not really so bad, is it? Posted by Johnny at 8:54 PM. Usually...

Broken Shivers: July 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 28, 2005. Part of our vacation was spent in Mexico. the part where we shared the beach with a hurricane! At one point before we reached final shelter, my six year old son was anxious. 'Will we get dead? My son, being a big movie fan, said 'He's like the invisible man then, huh? Something like that but better,' I said. When we finished talking, my son was feeling a lot braver. So was I. :). We reached the home of my minister friend and weathered the storm, and none of us were alone. It's no...

Broken Shivers: February 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 28, 2005. In 1969, in Pass Christian, Mississippi, a group of people were preparing to have a "hurricane party" in the face of a storm named Camille. Were they ignorant of the dangers? Could they have been overconfident? Did they let their egos and pride influence their decision? News reports later showed that the worst damage came at the little settlement of motels, go-go bars, and gambling houses known as Pass Christian, Mississippi, where some twenty people were killed at a hurricane ...

Broken Shivers: March 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 31, 2005. The last post stirred up all kinds of memories of adopting Melina. I wrote this four years ago to put on my web site, written from what I thought would be Melina's perspective. She did call me Daddy Mon then. Yawni and I are alike in one way though. Our mothers are angels. How did that happen, you ask? Teresa told me that Daddy Mon lived with Yawni in a big house with no little girl at all. Can you imagine? That about cinches it for me. Don't you love the word 'cinches? I saw Da...

Broken Shivers: November 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 26, 2005. The root of all evil. There is so much here to write sermons about. The love of money being the root of all evil is one. The power of wealth and what it would do helped end their marriage. Money bought drugs. Money certainly didn't buy happiness for either of them. How many times have we thought we'd like to win the lottery? Maybe we should be careful what we wish for, as the old saying goes. Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.". In Matthe...

Broken Shivers: October 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 30, 2005. But can you prove it? Rarely does a day go by that some nonbeliever doesn't tell me that I can't 'prove' that God exists or that I am 'saved,' etc. My answer is 'no, I cannot, no more than you can prove he doesn't exist or that I'm not saved.'. I know what I know. I know what happened to me. I know what's inside me and why I believe as I do. Most importantly, I 'know whom I have believed.' How do I know? By the eye of faith. How do we know anything? Galations 2:20 "I am crucifie...

Broken Shivers: April 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 29, 2005. My heart is broken within me.". He was a wounded spirit at the time. I spend most of my professional life and quite a bit of my 'online life' dealing with wounded spirits. I saw a nice lady today who had been burned severely while an infant by a mother who did not want her. She still bears some physical scars and many emotional scars. My heart goes out to her . literally. Do we as Christians or even just good-intentioned people owe something to these people? After a while, she cea...

Broken Shivers: May 2005
http://thebrokenshivers.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 26, 2005. Lying lips, loose tongues. This is just some of my thinking tonight on lies and liars who tell them. Most of us don't even know all his commandments. Probably where most lies are told are in relationships, especially in the beginning of a romantic relationship. You can write a book. On the trouble with a woman and a man. But you can not impose. You cant stick your nose. Into somethin that ya dont understand. But still you wonder. And who dont even care anymore. It makes you wonder.
