A Build log of Scale model plastic kits, focusing on armour, aircraft and science fiction. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Alien 3 BD409 EEV Completed. The final touches to the weathering have been completed. A flay coat of Gunze clear flat was applied to the model to seal the weathering so far. Oil paint streaks were applied to the underside of the vehicle using both 501 Abteilung and windsor and newton oils. Some metallic shine was added to the docking ring area using a 6B lead pencil. Which was a relief.

http://complexplastic.blogspot.com/2011/11/markings-part-2.html
A Build log of Scale model plastic kits, focusing on armour, aircraft and science fiction. Wednesday, November 2, 2011. I feel that this model would just not look right without some kind of tiny stenciling on the hull. To this end I discovered a sheet of red stencil decals that are inteded for Gundam models. These were place on hatches etc following my reference pictures as well as some artistic licence of what I thought looked good and appropriate. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Complex Plastic: July 2010
http://complexplastic.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
A Build log of Scale model plastic kits, focusing on armour, aircraft and science fiction. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. I have begun to add the'shelving' greeblies to the superstructure parts, I have done this whilst the superstructure parts are still separate, for ease of access. Once this is finished the whole superstructure and bridge neck can be glued into place. The key to this is to be totally random, I am forever catching myself thinking symetrically! Till next time, cheers,. Thursday, July 22, 2010.

A Build log of Scale model plastic kits, focusing on armour, aircraft and science fiction. Monday, October 24, 2011. Base Part 6 Weathering. Before I get to the base, the EEV base coat has been applied in several light coats to get a nice even coverage, I have now set this aside for a few days to let the Lacquer paint cure fully before I over spray with acrylics. An excellent video tutorial of this technique by Fitchtenfoo is available to view here. This is now allowed to dry and more can be added until ...

A Build log of Scale model plastic kits, focusing on armour, aircraft and science fiction. Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Engines and Things Part 3. I have had a short break from this project after suffering what is the modellers equivalent to writers block. However I have managed to complete the detailiing to the engine area (I think)! I added some subtle piping and greeblie detail to the secondary engine mounts and filled the rest in with suitable 'stuff' from the spares box. Till next time,.

A Build log of Scale model plastic kits, focusing on armour, aircraft and science fiction. Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Painting Part 3, Neutral Grey. The panels and parts that were to be painted neutral grey were masked up and sprayed in Tamiya neutral grey. The model was photographed under flourescent lights this time to try to demonstrate how the Floquil grime base colour changes with the lighting. In this shot notice how it looks less warm and more light grey than in previous shots. Base Part 5 Decals.
