Science Beyond Classroom

Friday, July 31, 2009. We see barcodes everyday and almost every where. Before the invention of barcodes, cashiers at stores have to run their deft little fingers across the cash machines to register payment. Now, they just have to beep all items under their scanners. What convenience that little piece of black and white stripes sticker provides! Recall what you've learnt under the topic Light - how does an object appear white / red / black? Science Beyond Classroom: The Misunderstood Rainbow

http://www.sciencebeyondclassroom.blogspot.com/2009/07/rainbows.html

Tuesday, July 28, 2009. A student questioned, "If light travels in a straight line, why is rainbow curved? This student believed that rainbow streams from the sun, like sun ray. Sunlight travels in a straight line, "bounced off" rain drops through total internal reflection and the dispersed light spectrum travels in straight line into our eyes. Till now, scientists have not fully understood all aspects of rainbow. Rainbow, by itself, is an interesting field of study. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

English Beyond Classroom: Value of Time

http://englishbeyondclassroom.blogspot.com/2009/07/value-of-time.html

Burqa on the street. Make love, not war. So many people, so many people. Monday, July 27, 2009. Posted by M.P. Few days ago, I was relieving a class. As usual, students were estastic that their English teacher was absent. "Free periods! Seeing that they were so gleeful to be wasting away half hour of learning, I shared with them a poem:. To realise the value of One Year,. Ask a student who failed his or her AP exams. To realise the value of One Month,. As a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

Perspire to Inspire before I Expire: Who's following your footsteps?

http://michellephoo.blogspot.com/2009/08/whos-following-your-footsteps.html

Perspire to Inspire before I Expire. Sunday, August 2, 2009. Who's following your footsteps? Watch what you do. you never know who is watching. I resonate strongly with this video. Once, a teacher said she had a student who came to school one day with a small, black tattoo on her arm. So the teacher called the girl's dad to come to school to highlight this concern to him. Perspire to Inspire before I Expire: August 2009

http://michellephoo.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Perspire to Inspire before I Expire. Wednesday, August 5, 2009. See beyond the defiant and wild facade, most teens are just confused and scared. The show started with them hauling abuses at their mother but look at the 180 degree change when they saw their mothers' "death". No matter how big size they have grown, no matter how defiant / angry they look, teens are still children in adults' bodies. They would still think of running into their parents' arms when they were scared. May the force be with you,.

Math Beyond Classroom: Puzzle: Mosquito Coil and Time

http://mathbeyondclassroom.blogspot.com/2009/07/puzzle-mosquito-coil-and-time.html

Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Puzzle: Mosquito Coil and Time. Few months ago, my brother came home with a puzzle from his NDU camp that made everyone in the family cracked our head. It is something made up over mosquito coils. (It's interesting what a bunch of army boys can come up with when they have nothing to do.). One mosquito coil takes 1h to burn. A) How to measure exactly 30 min using one coil? B) How to measure exactly 15 min using two coils? December 14, 2009 at 5:47 PM.

Perspire to Inspire before I Expire. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. How to make $2500 in 10 days? In a desperate move to save her house from foreclosure, a 55-year-old woman in Teaneck, N.J, did it. In the end, she sold 500 pies and that's a whopping $20000! Enjoy the full story here. Monday, July 27, 2009. Throughout the ...

Perspire to Inspire before I Expire: First Post!

http://michellephoo.blogspot.com/2009/07/first-post.html

Perspire to Inspire before I Expire. Monday, July 27, 2009. The birth of this blog is inspired by my students. With all their catchy background music, fanciful pictures and antsy words, they have struck out a place in the bloggers' world despite their faltering interest in English and writing. This is not my first blog. My first blog existed for 4 years and was deleted 5 years ago as a desperate attempt to guard my privacy after I started teaching and having students plopping into my life.
