Boodle's Adventure: April 2010
http://beccurrey.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Around the world in 365 days. Sunday, April 25, 2010. Well, no. But that sounds a whole lot more impressive than swimming with plankton. Ok, so now I’m understating our experience. We got to swim with some really beautiful and pretty big fish, but I’ll get to that. The man with the tuk-tuk. He just laughed at us for having walked all that way. Puerto Lopez at sunset. Luckily for us we got the boat in the background. Bring on the jungle! Isla de la Plata. Ecuador’s Machu Picchu. After exhausting the to do...

Livin La Vida Loja: February 2010
http://oblasinecuador.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 20, 2010. So,we dumped our bags in the tidy rooms, washed down some yummy homemade cookies with fresh squeezed lemonade and went for a refreshing swim in the Arajuno river. Perhaps you are imagining crocodiles, alligators or piranahas lurking about in the jungle river. Maybe true at one point in time, but much damage has been done in the Amazon rainforest - such as habitat loss and deforestation. One of the tree frogs spotted on our night walk. To make the most out of our vacation, we ...

Livin La Vida Loja: Home Sweet Home
http://oblasinecuador.blogspot.com/2010/09/tuesday-august-3rd-2010.html
Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Sara, her sister Maggie and our nieces Alex and Hensley. Alex with Uncle Ben. In our backyard with our dog Elsie. From there ensued several days of readjusting to home including unpacking, tracking down furniture, starting our internet, getting the cars running and road legal etc. Everything went very smooth and we hardly hit a hiccup except for the sticker shock everywhere we went. We heard ourselves repeating, "can you believe what this costs! Our local Farmer's Market.

Livin La Vida Loja: November 2009
http://oblasinecuador.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Loja celebrated it's Independence Day on November 18th. While the holiday was on November 18th, Loja took the opportunity to have, at least, two weeks of festivities. Each barrio (neighborhood) had its own parties which included soccer matches in the street, Ecua-volley tournaments, and live music at night with dancing in the street. Saturday, November 14, 2009. Futbol in the streets. Our neighborhood, I forget what its called, had the opportunity to host events last weekend&#...

Livin La Vida Loja: Celebrating In Ecuador
http://oblasinecuador.blogspot.com/2010/07/celebrating-in-ecuador.html
Sunday, July 4, 2010. Well, the Fourth of July just isn't the same down here in Ecuador, but we are doing our best to bring a little bit of USA into our dinner tonight with some hamburgers and french fries. We did, however, have the opportunity to celebrate yesterday after Spain's victory in the World Cup. The owner and her kids. After the game. The picture is blurry for obvious reasons. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Creating Our Life in Loja. It was swarming with families and young people. Saturday, September 19, 2009. Our First Week: A Warm Welcome to Loja. Technically we haven't made it through the first week yet but none the less, here is a wrap up of events so far. We also got a tour of the school we'll be working at. It is very well kept and looks to be quite organized. She showed us the intended baseball field as well which is about the size of our back yard. All the ...

Livin La Vida Loja: October 2009
http://oblasinecuador.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 24, 2009. As we mentioned before, hot showers are a rarity here. We still aren't sure whether this is due to a lack of resources or a lack of will. We do know that most Ecuadorians take pride in not caring about hot showers and telling stories about how cold the showers were when they were kids. It's their version of the "uphill both ways in snow" story. The shower and yes those are wires with electricity in them. Thursday, October 22, 2009. 2) dog feces on the sidewalk- not a good idea...
