Sew Loquacious: October 2012

http://sewloquacious.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 7, 2012. A Shirt Dress Success. I've finished the shirt dress McCall's M4769. I'm so happy with how it turned out! It wasn't all sunshine and roses, however. All was going well until I reached the collar! At that point, I nearly threw in the towel! Honestly, I could not figure it out. I searched and searched until I found a tutorial for this exact sewing pattern.specifically the lapel collar, at Pleasant View Schoolhouse. Blog I could NOT have finished the collar without this post! Simple...

Sew Loquacious: February 2013

http://sewloquacious.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Have you heard about the Snowmageddon that hit the Midwest? Well, the big city (KC), has been hit twice in the last week. Heavy snow is actually pretty rare here, but to be hit twice, with soooo much snow is really unusual. Today is the fourth snowday! I'm feeling a little cabin feverish, although I have been able to work on a few handy projects. First, I finished a crocheted scarf I started a few weeks ago. Notice my dress form? I found the Knotted Headband Tutorial. It's b...

Sew Loquacious: A Birthday Quilt

http://sewloquacious.blogspot.com/2012/05/birthday-quilt.html

Saturday, May 5, 2012. In my last post I told you I celebrated ( celebrated. May be a stretch) my birthday a couple of weeks ago. While I haven't really been struggling with this birthday, I have reflected on being older and how I have experienced a few of the perks. Drinking a cup of coffee, I realized this: yes, I am indeed old. Only old people drink coffee when it is super hot right? As I sat there sweating, I began to laugh at myself. Another sign? Rita called her quilt the Lifesaver. Basically, ...

TTTPL Art Journals Final. At last. photos from the final projects in our Art Journal Series. Each of these unique books is full of pages and pockets and envelopes and ephemera just waiting to be discovered. Students combined various paper types and sizes, as well as other materials like the glassine library pocket shown on the right, above. The final pieces are amazing! We used 5 x 7 matte board and frames to create the covers. Envelopes and other little pockets were sometimes sewn right into the binding.

Tuesday, May 28, 2013. So, it's day three of summer vacation and my kid is already B-O-R-E-D! I wish I had 100 days off for the summer! I'd love to be bored. For a few days! I bet you'd love just a few boring days, too! Call me boring, but since my last posting, I've finished up a couple sewing projects and started a few more. First, I finished my Love Knots. Quilt I haven't quilted yet, however. I'm not sure I will, actually. I'm not that happy with it. Don't get me wrong.I love the concept. I used left...

I have a few more dresses to post soon, but I wanted to share some thoughts. I've been contemplating a lot of random things lately, regarding sewing. I'm thinking of getting a new machine, but if one machine is basically as good as the next, I don't want to buy a new one. 2) FABRIC OR FIT? I haven't had much of a "wow" factor when it...

http://emshappyhandiworks.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 27 July 2011. I hope you are well. Oh I have been feeling most sorry for my self this past 24 hours. But I am gradually feeling just a bit better. I'm not sure what's up, I lost my voice again and had a sore throat yesterday. And horrible headaches too. Today the voice returned after lunch! It was so weird I had a whispery croak all morning, had a shower at lunch-time (I know strange time to shower but the step kids used the all the hot water this morning! But Enough on that. Also this week, w...

Friday, 20 July 2012. I just wanted to pop in and update you all. I'll be very quiet in these next few weeks/month as we are moving house! We are downsizing to a tiny little cottage/bungalow, that I have already fallen in love with despite its smallness and faults (yucky coloured bathroom suite, no central heating, mole ridden garden! I cannot wait to start our new life in it. Since it is so much smaller we have been selling lots of possessions, which has been so very liberating and rewarding! Our new ho...

Tuesday, 2 August 2011. Shibby Shabby Shuffle Muffle. In a playful mood today! I saw my bestie buddy's new blog post today. And thought like her I'd follow suit with a silly post title! I had a little blogland wander yesterday (and today while I should have been cleaning.) and came across a few Lovely little blogs, and one of them, Country Rose. Has a GORGEOUS giveaway! I can but only hope that perhaps I'll win such lovely goodies, but I never tend to win anything! So hopes are not too high, but OH!

Friday, 9 December 2011. How are you feeling today? This is how I'm feeling. This is a current advert on tv here in the UK. (I'm not endorsing Sudafed here, just sharing the ad! I feel just like that cleverly knitted lady! I marvelled at the ad actually, very clever! So yes, I'm feeling ILL again, a big nasty cold, I'm swamped in tissues, sitting here with my cup-a-soup,. I thought I's share with you my Hubby's fancy dress costume I made/re-fashioned! So I will have to try it back on when I feel better!

Sunday, 20 January 2013. After reading my dear friend Bonnie' s. First blog post of the year, I have been inspired to also continue with this blog after deliberately neglecting it since late summer. I'm not blogging for the comments and interest from others (although it must be said I can' t help but be thrilled when I do get both) I have decided that my blog is for me to record all my creative makes and the little things in life that makes me happy. My life has really changed within the year 2012. We do...

Sew Long, Wear Well

Sew Long, Wear Well. You Really Should Visit. Sunday, August 17, 2014. Captain Kirk, Chibi edition! I haven't sewn in quite a while. It seems to go in cycles that way- I get out the machine, work on a few projects, get tired of it, put it away. That actually seems to be how I work on a lot of things. I apologize for the terrible quality of this photo. but not for the adorable subject :). A scrap of the fabric you used for the shirt. A Sharpie black marker. It kind of looks like the Eiffel tower.
