Just another WordPress.com site. What is going on: An A1C Mystery →. Defining Ellie and Me with the D. September 16, 2010. Ellie Lee and the D. I am searching for a place to land. It has been almost eight months since Ellie was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and I still can not find that place where I feel like I have some handle on MY destiny let alone hers. This thing called Type 1 diabetes is pretty large, overwhelming and quite frankly I’m always voting nobut it is not listening! We’ve had A1Cs...

Just another WordPress.com site. From Blank to Normal… →. March 25, 2011. Ellie Lee and the D. I just don’t worry about them! I spend my time as a D parent making sure my kid stays alive. I want her to be alive and well even after I am gone. I do not want her to die from insulin or suffer complications from high blood sugars. Awful as it sounds it’s that simple. I do not want Ellie to ever have too much insulin and die from a low. I do not want Ellie to suffer physical harm from high blood sugars. Thank ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Sugar Pop and other Tid-Bits →. From Blank to Normal…. May 20, 2011. Ellie Lee and the D. I have been unable to pull a post together on my blog for quite some time now. It has been about a year and a half since diagnosis and though I feel more confidence everyday regarding the care and management of Ellie’s diabetes, I feel numbblank in a way. But the repetitive drudgery of the care is still heavy. So on with the post:. Ellie and her little brother Jack were outside most ...

Just another WordPress.com site. From Blank to Normal…. To you, From me →. Sugar Pop and other Tid-Bits. July 28, 2011. Ellie Lee and the D. Mom, why can’t I have some of that sugar pop? Ellie is 5, “not worth it” has no meaning to her…it’s the equivalent of me just saying no basically. She ponders my answer for a moment and tells me that she would like to try it out anyway. Ugh! I thought, with my eyes in the back of my head searching the grey matter (cue : Reyna of course! First, I live in Kansas. ...

Our "Extra Sweet" Girl: Rambling worries...
http://extrasweetgirl.blogspot.com/2010/10/rambling-worries.html
Our "Extra Sweet" Girl. Life with a child with Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease. Friday, October 29, 2010. But tomorrow morning I am leaving at 6:30am to run a half marathon. I can picture it already.mile 10 and I'm answering my cell phone to do a bolus, you know? And most people around here are trick-or-treating on Saturday night so their kids aren't out late on a school night. Last year Halloween night ended with a crying, headachey, stomachachey, high BG little girl despite our best efforts. I know ...

My Life As A Pancreas: Today I HATE diabetes.
http://mylifeasapancreas.blogspot.com/2013/04/today-i-hate-diabetes.html
Sunday, April 14, 2013. Today I HATE diabetes. I haven't written in months, mostly because at this point diabetes takes a back seat in our lives. Sure, it's always there, but mostly in the background. Yesterday my sweet boy turned 7 years old. Today was his big party that he invited his whole class to - a fun Star Wars party at the park, complete with a bounce house. And light sabers made out of pool noodles (courtesy of Pinterest! Today also included Glucagon. I wanted to save his party.and I wanted...

My Life As A Pancreas: September 2012
http://mylifeasapancreas.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 26, 2012. But just at lunchtime, apparently.). We have been battling lows. CONSTANTLY for the past 3 weeks or so. I kept thinking they would go away, but I finally started changing some things and he's still been going low. I suppose there is one constant thing about diabetes. It is never constant. No matter how hard you try. I had Adam having perfectly wonderful numbers for the first month of school. The second month? I have him at .25 units per hour. Why is he going low? Now, I LOV...
muffinmoon: July 2012
http://muffinmoon.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 31 July 2012. Road Trip sans child - Jinkies! Yes, you read that right. I am fresh back from a three day, two-night road trip with my friend Anne. For anyone with a diabetic child you will known what a BIG DEAL this is! For myself it is doubly tricky as my lovely man has not been confident enough for me to leave home overnight for some years. And then I, as with many parents let alone D-parents, have all kinds of control issues. Does anyone else do it as well as I do? I knew my boys would be fine.

Thursday, 19 April 2012. Sorting through Nana's old costume jewellery, Mr Frank decided he wanted to keep the whole booty in his treasure chest but wear it all at once firstly because "that's just what a Pirate King would do, isn't it, Mama? Yes, my love, that's exactly what a Pirate King would do. Diabetes has been kicking my proverbial butt these past few weeks with disrupted nights and crazy numbers. However, we are well; I am just knackered and have lost some of my blogging mojo. Sunday, 8 April 2012.

Wednesday, April 17, 2013. The last 24 hours. Have kinda been a bit hellish. Sunday, April 14, 2013. Today I HATE diabetes. I haven't written in months, mostly because at this point diabetes takes a back seat in our lives. Sure, it's always there, but mostly in the background. Today also included Glucagon. My Life As A Pancreas: January 2013
http://mylifeasapancreas.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 16, 2013. I'm sitting here at the urgent care with Adam, waiting to be seen like everyone else who's kid has a hacking cough and nasty sore throat. So, obviously I haven't blogged in quite awhile. But I felt the urge to share a mini milestone of sorts with my DOC peeps ;). When we were done hearing glowing reports of how well our kiddos are doing (oh yes, I just mommy-bragged right there! And on his daily log sheet for school, I found that Sydney had written this:. My new "D-Mom" Posse!

Is there anything new to say about living with Type 1 diabetes? Maybe not, but I'll try anyway. Leaving Blood in Bad Places. By Jacquie Paul Wojcik. I hope I never lose my OneTouch UltraLink meter. 8212; and not just because I need it to survive. Instead, I fear that some unsuspecting citizen will unzip that little microfiber satchel, take a peek inside, and assume that it’s a device used to slaughter small animals and bleed them dry. Wicked Sweet: Weekend Meme
http://wickedsweet-pam.blogspot.com/2011/07/weekend-meme.html
My Wicked Sweet Journey with a Type 1 Child. Saturday, July 16, 2011. It's Saturday, and we have nothing on the calendar. NOTHING! Nowhere to be, no one expecting us, no schedule to race to keep up with. So I find myself browsing the DOC, and I came across an old post from Hannah over at Dorkabetic. She put together this fun little alphabet meme, which I hope she doesn't mind that I've stolen. Happy Lazy Summer Saturday! King Don't understand how married couples can sleep in anything but. Our "Extra Sweet" Girl. Life with a child with Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease. Sunday, November 7, 2010. I think you guys are great! Thank you for your ideas about my crazy weekend last week. As usual, things went fine and I was pretty much worrying about nothing. But usually I worry at my husband and then feel better just getting it all out. Since he's been gone, I have no one to ramble at about D that understands it. So thanks for listening! Robert Redford's resort.so beautiful. We were all fairies.
