diy squirrel: Vinegar is Amazing.
http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2013/11/vinegar-is-amazing.html
Saturday, November 16, 2013. Me Vinegar = BFF's for life. I've recently discovered the amazing cleaning powers of vinegar. Not only is it affordable, it's safe and natural to use around pets and wee ones. Vinegar (and baking soda) is also a natural deodorizer, which will help take any lingering scents out of fabrics or rugs. Oh, and it gets the job done. Let's discuss, shall we? My kitchen rug is something that I sought long and hard for; after weeks of searching for the perfect. It's not perfect, but it...

Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Shady Business: Ombre Staircase Renovation. Sometimes I just can't contain myself when it comes to design decisions. There are some projects that should retain the classic mantra of "less is more". Then there are projects that are bursting with so much potential, it's just freaking ridiculous. And then you have me. And a staircase. Little 'ol me and a plain-Jane staircase. I think you know where this is going by now. Ombre Need I discuss why this concept is amazing for a staircase?

diy squirrel: Candy Paint Job
http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2013/07/candy-paint-job.html
Monday, July 15, 2013. Measuring, taping, and painting stripes are not simple or quick tasks. Granted, I’m a proponent of “nothing worth having is ever easy”, but our other reasons for skipping the stripes made this first point have more weight in our final decision. Since stripes would be painted on top. Once we refill the space with the washer/dryer, laundry table, laundry bin, linen storage, desk, chairs, entertainment center, rugs, etc…we may not even see the stripes! We purchased this product direct...

http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2013/01/we-owe-you-long-awaited-kitchen-progress.html
Friday, January 11, 2013. We Owe You: Long-Awaited Kitchen Progress. On January 1st, 2012 we broke ground on our kitchen renovation. January 1, 2012. Excuses aside, we never shared our gorgeous new kitchen with you. And though the kitchen isn't fully complete yet, it's still pretty dang beautiful. So after many inquiries and lots of patience, here's what our kitchen looks like today, a year after we started the renovation:. Pull-out trash and recycling drawers (center). Ehhh, our not so cute "pantry".

diy squirrel: The Name Game.
http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-name-game.html
Tuesday, February 12, 2013. For being so accustomed to handling things "my way", I gotta say - the process of changing my name was not something I wanted to deal with. Don't get me wrong, my hesitation had nothing to do with my new moniker. It just had everything to do with changing a quarter century of personal identity and establishment.and having to deal with government agencies to do so. 1 Pick your new name. Sounds obvious, right? Two last names, "Doe Deere"). You can drop your maiden name, keep you...

diy squirrel: A Penny For Your Thoughts
http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2012/07/a-penny-for-your-thoughts.html
Saturday, July 28, 2012. A Penny For Your Thoughts. Take me to Coinstar because I've got some pennies to cash. We're nearing the end of Phase 1 in our kitchen renovation, which means it's time to tile the backsplash. And to help explain the penny puns, we selected some lovely mint green penny tiles for the backsplash. I could keep making coin jokes, but let's just jump right into the good stuff:. Since we tiled the shower in our bathroom last year, we're no strangers to tiling. We let the mastic dry for ...

diy squirrel: LIDINGO ATE YOUR BABY.
http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2012/07/lidingo-ate-your-baby.html
Saturday, July 28, 2012. LIDINGO ATE YOUR BABY. We're Ikea freaks. A decent percentage of our household furniture has come from the International DIY mecca, so why shouldn't our kitchen come from Ikea as well? Each pile contains the components of a cabinet - I laid them out in "cabinet piles" to make sure we had all of our supplies (since we brought home about 50 freakin' boxes that night). Once we had cabinets, it was on to the counter top! For our counter tops, we chose the Ikea NUMERAR. This chrome pl...

diy squirrel: Basement Dwellers.
http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2013/06/basement-dwellers.html
Tuesday, June 18, 2013. The spiders love it! Our goal is to section off about a quarter of our basement, creating a cozy semi-finished space to do laundry, play video games, and just hang out in general. We are calling the space semi-finished because we'll be installing two new walls (with drywall), but keeping the rest cinder block. We also plan on painting the floor instead of installing tile, carpet, or hardwood. So why semi-finished? Plumbing, gas lines, electrical - Oh my! Suck it, spores. Quality&#...

diy squirrel: It's Taupe-ally Grey, Right?
http://diysquirrel.blogspot.com/2013/02/its-taupe-ally-grey-right.html
Monday, February 25, 2013. It's Taupe-ally Grey, Right? Taupe, grey, taupey-grey-ish; the hue is open to interpretation. For the record, Martha calls it Bedford Grey. I call it the new swagger on my hallway doors. I'm a Behr kind of gal, so I had the kind folks in the Home Depot paint department color match Martha's color to the Behr Ultra Premium Plus paint in a silky, satin finish. Why not semi-gloss you ask? All in all, I'm super pleased with the way the doors turned out! The color is very dynamic and...
