SOMETHING TO DIE FOR

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR. A PART TIME CLIMBERS LIFE. Friday, 3 February 2012. Well, the week started with a bang for me.on the head! But I'll get to that later. The International meet was something I was really looking forward to. The idea of being immersed for a week amongst 80 other climbers doing nothing but climbing and talking about climbing is my idea of heaven. When people say their life flashed before their eyes, I now understand. The next thing I remember is Dave asking me where I lived. I think...

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR: March 2010

http://simonfrost.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR. A PART TIME CLIMBERS LIFE. Tuesday, 9 March 2010. It feels like winters nearly over in North Wales, so with the thought that it might be the last chance this season, I took the day off work and headed in to the Black Ladders. Dropping the kids off at school meant it was 10.30 by the time I started the walk in, but the path was clear of snow and the weather was perfect, so although I had a heavy pack, I was able to make good time and reached the crag at 11.45. I emptied the pack.

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR: December 2010

http://simonfrost.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR. A PART TIME CLIMBERS LIFE. Sunday, 26 December 2010. Had a day out with Pete today, he was keen to get on a line he'd been keeping an eye on in the Pass, before the thaw set in. This wasn't your average Scottish style mixed line. Not that there's anything wrong with them. This was something different. Pete worked the route ground up with a few rests, before pulling the ropes and going for the clean ascent with some style. Clearly the training had paid off! So for me, lockoffs and lo...

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR: How thick is the skin of my teeth?

http://simonfrost.blogspot.com/2011/10/wheres-edge-oops.html

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR. A PART TIME CLIMBERS LIFE. Tuesday, 25 October 2011. How thick is the skin of my teeth? The next morning we started climbing at 7.30 but hit a problem when the route description said 'move rightwards along ledges for 20m to the obvious chimney'. We’d already moved 30m rightwards and could see no sign of an obvious chimney but after some indecisive forays back and forth, I continued rightwards for a further. It was time to make a decision. Up or down? Finally after much watching, the...

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR

http://simonfrost.blogspot.com/2011/02/great-things-have-been-happening-in.html

SOMETHING TO DIE FOR. A PART TIME CLIMBERS LIFE. Tuesday, 1 February 2011. Great things have been happening in Scotland over the last few days (well the whole winter to be precise) and it was inspiring to be up there to witness some of it. The weekends goings on have been well reported elsewhere, so I'll just relate my latest adventure. I started up the technical first pitch as this suited my style of climbing, and Dave is the man for anything overhanging, like the second pitch. Walking back in on Sunday...

Youngy's blog: January 2012

http://youngysblog.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Keeping you upto date with the crushings of a punter! Monday, 23 January 2012. Off again on another weekend with perfect grit weather! Get in, The plan was to go Baslow and hit up the easy routes to solo and then have a little session at Flat World and The Eagle Stone. Driving over it was freezing, first day this year i've had to scrape ice off the windscreen, conditions were set to be perfect. So that was a week ago. And i've decided to complete the post and update people with my injury and rehab. I was...

Keeping you upto date with the crushings of a punter! Monday, 12 September 2011. Lazy but also busy. I get so lazy filling this thing in sometimes. I think of something brilliant to write but then when it comes to it i can never be arsed. To sum things up though i've been climbing loads, found my psyche with a week long trip to Font booked for November and 10 days sport climbing in Spain in December i need to get strong and fit. Youngy's blog: Northumberland Joy

http://youngysblog.blogspot.com/2012/05/northumberland-joy.html

Keeping you upto date with the crushings of a punter! Saturday, 19 May 2012. After a cracking session at Longridge last week the psyche had returned to boulder. Finding myself with some time off me and Helen decided on a four day trip up to Northumberland, I'd always heard good reports about the place but just never found myself the time or the weather to get up there. This was to be the weekend though! Waking up Saturday to glorious sunshine and clear blue skies, psyched! Deffo one for the DFBWGC! All i...

Youngy's blog: Taking the chance

http://youngysblog.blogspot.com/2012/05/taking-chance.html

Keeping you upto date with the crushings of a punter! Monday, 7 May 2012. Having spent the majority of time indoors still and not really touching real rock i was keen to get back out and the forecast for the bank holiday weekend was good but there was me on another kayaking course! As suspected he said it's a bit greasy and thinks its only just dried out. A quick MTFU self talk and i find myself in the same situation but this time a slight alteration of the body and BOOM! MTB Level 2 Assessment.

Keeping you upto date with the crushings of a punter! Monday, 1 September 2014. On the blog again. So seems like reading my last post when I promised I would be posting more i must have been lying. What have a been doing? Well, turns out to be an awful lot. After the winter and getting to this level i knew that the focus would have to shift this year and more time spent in the hills on big mountain crags and sea cliffs getting some finalising routes in before i went for MIA training which i finally compl...

Youngy's blog: October 2011

http://youngysblog.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Keeping you upto date with the crushings of a punter! Wednesday, 19 October 2011. Lakes, Lakes, Lakes. I had never done much climbing in the Lake District up until lately. Last weekend I went on a bit of a social visit so didn't think i would get much climbing done but managed to get out both days and get some ticking done. The morning was taken up by visiting my cousin Craig and his wife Liz, the plan was to go to the school where he works and to help him on a few things with his new climbing wall.

A Good Idea at the Time?: 07/01/2012 - 08/01/2012

http://font8a.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Oh, now I understand. As I’m writing this it is proving awkward to hold the pen and I hope that the poisonous bite doesn’t kill me. A melodramatic sentence but in some ways I thought it would be quite a funny way to go and if you’re reading this I obviously survived at least long enough to type up my scribbles. I thought “look how flexible its, it can turn it’s head right round”. Caroline helpfully pointed out “What ever possessed you? Welcome back home. A massive crop of blackberries. And I'm not actual...
