The sailing club has offered sailing instruction for over 50 summers to hundreds and hundreds of local children. The club has evolved over time and the boats and people have changed but the nature of the place has not changed at all. The Sturgeon Point History Project. Sunday, 19 August 2012. 70th Anniversary of the Raid on Dieppe. Today is the 70th Anniversary of the Raid on Dieppe. Allied troops involved in the raid. Of these, roughly 5,000. Were Canadian. The remainder were British commandos and 50. Canadians killed. Of these, 807. Were killed in action, 28. Died of wounds and 72. Canadian prisoners of war. Allied aircraft shot down. Aircraft losses for the RCAF, inlcuding 10 pilots. Then to the Kozaks who now called it Manita.
