The name for the car salesperson in my next book is Kat McFarlen, as submitted by Catherine Salazar. The winning doesn’t stop there, but more after this. I’ll give you one bit from the nomination: She chose a job at the car dealership because, ‘well, why not? 8221; To learn more, of course, you’ll have to read the next book. Walk the Erie Canal. Author of the JP Weiscarver Mystery Series. Posted by Steve Martaindale. On July 1, 2015. A month ago, I posted a reference here about having high hopes attached to an application for a one-month writer’s residency in an exotic location I did not want to divulge at that time. Here’s the rest of the story. However, even slightly further west is Loggerhead Key, the last point. The island is mostly uninhabited now that the lighthouse is no longer operated, visited only by park perso...

Check – Walk the Erie Canal

Walk the Erie Canal. From Buffalo to Albany on foot. June 8, 2016. Thirty-five days into our trip found us where the Erie Canal flows into the Hudson River. Tuesday afternoon, once we completed our end-to-end walk of the Erie Canal, I again wished Leah a happy birthday. It’s something I had done every day for the past five weeks. Sometimes it came when we were struggling with some aspect of our trek. Sometimes when things were going giddily well. She decided on a long hike. Along the way, as we met many ...

Christmas Lights | Lewy Body Dementia
https://lewybodydiseasecom.wordpress.com/2016/12/19/christmas-lights
A husband trying to understand his wife's Lewy Body Dementia. Yesterday, Crestview had their Christmas Party about 2:30 pm. I brought homemade chocolate chip cookies and there were a variety of very nice desserts. Lyn came out for a while and then returned to her room and bed. I told her that I would be back and in the evening we would go see the lights at Steve Beachy Park (Central Park) in College Station. This entry was posted in Christmas. December 19, 2016. A husband trying to understand his wife's Lewy Body Dementia. Although in my mind, I don’t need approval or validation from Lyn. My heart does not always feel the same; it would be nice to hear “I love you.” or “You are a great guy.” Lyn does not say these things to me. I have to accept that what I am doing is good for her and appreciated. This entry was posted in Dementia. February 21, 2017. We finished with cheese cake, which she very much enjoyed. Walk the Erie Canal. From Buffalo to Albany on foot. June 6, 2016. Aboard the train … out of the rain. When they surveyed the original course for the Erie Canal almost 200 years ago, you know they picked the easiest route. So, it’s no surprise as time went on that other roads, including railroads, took advantage and built nearby. All of that is to explain how the idea for Sunday’s leg of our trip was planted in our brain. Sunday was a 17-mile trek from Amsterdam to Schenectady, one we were dreading just ...

Walk the Erie Canal. From Buffalo to Albany on foot. Something old …. June 6, 2016. Today, we chose a path through the city and suburbs rather than the bike path in the green belt area. We have very little city experience, but riding the train into Schenectady Sunday made us realize there were some really cool things about a city and maybe we need to work on our city smarts. So we started smack dab in the middle of old Schenectady (note the photo above of the city hall … and that’s the back! Well, back t...

Walk the Erie Canal. From Buffalo to Albany on foot. June 4, 2016. Today being Saturday, there were lots of folks out on the trail and canal. The weather was a little drier and cooler, too, so it was a very pleasant walk. Along a road next to the trail near the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs, an Amish family had set up a table selling homemade goodies. Most definitely, Steve and I had to buy some homemade cookies! After you visit the area, get back on the trail and go about three miles until you get to th...

A husband trying to understand his wife's Lewy Body Dementia. It’s Sat. and, of course, I brought the Shipley’s doughnuts for a post breakfast snack. Lyn was sleeping when I got to Crestview and she had her Indianapolis Racing hat on her head. It was very funny. She awoke and saw that I had brought the doughnuts and she slowly got up and ate 4 1/2 of them. This entry was posted in Dementia. December 4, 2016. After Dinner →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Author of the JP Weiscarver Mystery Series. Posted by Steve Martaindale. On August 6, 2015. The question came up, What’s the most important thing you learned in college? My lesson came from my first journalism professor at Texas A&M, Bill Harrison. He was a good mentor for the written word and one of his pet peeves was misspellings, which he punished heavily, something like dropping your score on an assignment by 10 points for each mistake. But here’s the birthplace of my lesson. Read more of this post.
